Good afternoon and welcome to the WebDev Cafe's spring forum.
Spring seems like an odd word at this point,
about twenty minutes ago winter re-entered our lives and I've heard that local
schools are canceling evening activities. So
odd for spring but welcome just the same and happy New Year to you all.
I want to welcome you to a different kind of forum than we've typically had.
Most of our forms have been
informational presentations or
nuts-and-bolts talks about various activities, today we're going to do
something a little different and have
a pair of community dialogues about web related university
policies and practices.
Joining us today for the first half of this forum will be Brendan Guenther
who will be talking with us about Google Analytics and their terms of service
and what responsibilities and responses the university has to those.
We'll have a networking break from about 3:55 to 4:15
right out here in the lobby and I've got coffee from Biggby and we have
bottled water and things out there.
And then when we return from the break we'll be talking about web accessibility,
web accessibility policies at the university.
I've termed it Web Accessibility Policy 2.0 which
was just poetry on my part, really.
But we will be discussing it with Karen Woehlert
from the office of
Inclusiveness and Intercultural Initiatives
and also Mike Elledge from University, from MSU Usability, Accessibility
Research and Consulting,
and Emily whose last name I will tank on. Brovich? Brozovic,
who will be speaking with us from Virtual University Design and Technology
about captioning services which is of course a big part of what some of us get
hung on in trying to comply with accessibility policies.
So I welcome you all, Brendan will begin and when he's finished leading
his part of the discussion
we'll switch to a break out front.
So come on up Brendan.
