In the past I've used email and handwritten tick-lists at the (school) gates to get support
for certain events (summer fairs, bake sales) from parents and with this it's all done pretty
much at the touch of a button. Now I'm no tech-savvy geek or anything, I don't really
understand tech systems. But I find this easy, so it's going to work for lots of people.
So you set up your event and your task, and immediately you can request volunteers at
the touch of a button, and without getting lots of responses directly to you, you can
just go on to PTAsocial. You immediately know that you need 5 people for a bake sale next
Tuesday and it's all there, and you can bustle up some support if you need to.
And also, using the bake sale example again, you can immediately contact people on that
group with the touch of a button, rather than going through email lists to find the right
people for the right job.
So it works really well for us!
