So what is Barcamp? It's one of the biggest events in Saigon, It's an unconference,
so, it's completely different from other conferences, in that people get to choose the topics,
Anybody can present at anytime and we give the topics to the people, they vote, and the best topics
get the best priority, so every year we get anywhere from 50 to 60 presentations
everything from technology to marketing, design, business, and the great thing is all these thigns can combine.
So we organize Barcamp in Saigon, because it's been going on since 2008 and it would be a really big shame if nobody was organizing it.
We weren't picked by any big organization to be organizers.
rather we were the one who stepped up to organize it and keep the community going.
We don't do it for money, because there is no money,
we don't do it for fame because no one is getting famous
we do it for the community, we do it to keep Barcamp going on.
The target market at Barcamp is anywhere from students to professionals
people who are interested in learning, in a lot of different fields
marketing, design, start-up, entrepreneurs, techies. We've had presentations from people in really different fields.
Even people who present about how to date a vietnamese girl or how to conserve tigers.
Or even very interesting topics like iOS development or Android development. Things that really interest people. The target?
People who are interested in that.
Maybe the biggest thing would be the knowledge that is shared at the event. I know that myself,
every time I go, I get some kind of deep insight into some brand new topic that I didn't know about before.
The other really important thing that happens is the networking, maybe a future employers,
or future employees, or maybe a future business partner, or maybe even your future wife.
And for some people, the other really nice thing about Barcamp is it's an opportunity to share,
it's an opportunity to practice speaking in front of other people.
Every year, we're always trying to make Barcamp better. So getting feedback from the community.
We've so this year we have a lot of things to announce, iOS app, Android app, Windows phone app,
got super networking, stepping up the level of networking, where we've got new registration,
we're trying to make sure that registration is really smooth and really fast.
We even got Beercamp, and also, we're preparing all the presenters on their presentations
at least two weeks before so they're presentations are way better than last year.
One challenge is that the event is totally free. We're not allowed to charge people to come into the event.
That means we need to raise money from outside, that means we need to hit up sponsors
to get the money to be able to pay for the event.
Another challenge is we don't plan the content so we don't really have control over
what's going to be talked about during the event, that just makes it harder to plan
I guess another thing is every year we try to make improvements based on feedback
we get before we try to make it better and bigger every time.
So we're really excited to see you guys at Barcamp this year, it's going to be awesome,
it's going to be over 1,000 people at RMIT. See you there.
So thanks for watching and make sure to register online at Barcampsaigon.org
