Hi I'm Kim Haertl with Simply Beautiful in Austin, Texas. We are going to talk a little
bit about how to create a smoky eye. What we have done with Sara already is we have
started with a basic eye shadow and eye liner preparation. We have close, a lighter color
on the lid, blend it well, a darker more neutral color in the crease, brought down. So that
is how we basically started with a highlighter at the top. What we are going to do is just
deepen this and make it more of an evening look by adding some deeper colors. I'm going
to go with plums because we already have the daytime neutral looks so I am going to take
a deep plum, close please, whoops, that happens. We are going to start closer to the inside
of the eye, blending it outwards. Small strokes really really work well especially for beginners.
Don't try to just bring the whole line because then we'll make it too thick, so close to
the lash line, sweeping it up and then bring it in to the crease. What we are doing is
intensifying the look by making it darker. So this is how it begins. You can see it advance.
I'm going to blend it and you can just use a piece of tissue and just make sure my brush
doesn't have any of the remaining shadow from my last one and I'm going to brush it out.
Then we're going to build on that. We're going to build on that by adding a little bit more
in the corners. I would really like to see Sara with just a little bit of black liner.
I am using eye shadow as eye liner, really really close to the lash line and we are going
to get a really really deep beautiful look with this. Now I'm not bringing the black
up, I'm just keeping it here in the corner, down under the shadow. And if you could look
up for me Sara, I'm going to take the dark shadow, the black and I'm going to intensify
what we already have on as a dark brown lighter there. We are going to make it smoky by just
small strokes again, as close to the lash line as you can. Smoky eyes are a great look
for the evening, really really bold and really sexy. Open please. Close. Again we are blending.
We want to finish that up with some mascara, middle distance about here please, top, down,
up, look up. We want to bring the mascara on the bottom as well. So that's a beautiful
smoky eye for Sara. Take your time and don't forget those short strokes.
