bjbjqPqP We have gathered here to meditate the topic Preparation from the Word of God.
Preparation is an integral part of our lives. In our day to day lives we get our selves
ready for those we pre plan. It could be a marriage in the household or something like
that. But some times we are prepared even for the things we had not pre-planed but expected
as one of an interview while applying for a job. Since it is quite common that the events
those we had neither pre-planned nor expected do happen in our daily life, we are prepared
for them too. The Insurance policies we take; life policy or a medical policy or a vehicle
policy are a kind of our preparedness for the unexpected. When I start my journey every
morning, I don t plan to meet an accident and in that event to which hospital am I to
be admitted, but I do exercise caution that such a thing should not happen. In that way
my caution too is a kind of preparedness. We raise children at home. Raising the children
does not mean just feeding and clothing them but it also includes teaching them the values
and disciplines of life so that they are equipped enough to face the world on their own. In
that way even raising the children is a kind of preparing them for their future world.
Lessons our children learn in their classes need not be learnt from the school class room
alone, they can be learnt from their house itself. Yet we choose to send them to school,
why? It is to prepare them to face the society of their future of course. The military training
imparted to our soldiers is to get them and keep prepared for the event of war. They are
so trained that when the challenge arises, these people unmindful of their own safety
go forth in the service of the motherland. Therefore Preparedness is such an integral
part of our lives that we keep on being prepared for one thing or the other. The Lord who had
created the heavens and the earth has planned for a grand event. It is a very very important
event. He expects to prepare ourselves for that grand event. Since God has planned and
decided this grand event, He has told us in a black and white document on how to prepare,
why to prepare and what will be the consequence of not being prepared. It took Him 1600 years
to finalize this document. This valuable document is called The Holy Bible. It was written down
to prepare you and me for that great event. It was not just to read the scriptures and
know the things in it, but to read it, know those things and get prepared. Some people
read the Bible because they say it gives them peace. Some read it so that through that religious
activity they get the hand of God to act in their behalf. Let us say for example that
a killer disease that is contagious is spreading in our area. The health department immediately
swings into action and hands out a booklet of a few pages to all the inhabitants of the
area listings all the dos and don ts about the killer disease. This they do it to equip
the people to guard against the disease. They issue it door to door. If one of the residents
upon receiving the booklet keeps it in safe keeping without even reading it, saying that
this is a valuable document which ought to be preserved, what will be your response?
You may say what use are those instructions to him? If a person tells you that he was
reading the booklet daily and that he found it smoothening, you call him a fool. You would
love to tell him to read it thoroughly and understand every word of it so as to be prepared
to fight the disease if ever he encountered it. Some will say that they are not good readers
so unable to understand what it says therefore are not using it. You will feel like telling
them that they ought to find out the meaning and understand it to safe guard themselves.
Unfortunately many use The Holy Bible in a similar fashion. Some regard it to be a very
holy book and so saying will kiss the book and keep it away safely; some had never used
at all and it may have to be dusted to be used again; some others read it just for the
sake of the duty. None of these will be of any use to the people unless they read it
and realize the reason for what it had been written and upon that realization prepare
themselves for the grand event that is said to be coming. What is that all important grand
event that is coming? Let s turn to Mathew Chapter 24: 29, 30. Immediately after the
tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her
light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes
of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven
with power and great glory. It is going to be an all important event that the world has
ever seen. What is that all important event and what are going to happen on that day?
What that has not happened till date is going to happen on that day? The sun is going to
be darkened. The moon shall not give her light. Such an incident has never happened in history
of man. Worse part of it is that the stars falling from the heaven. We sing a nursery
rhyme which says: twinkle twinkle little stars how I wonder what you are. For our eyes they
seem to be little stars. Therefore we do not grasp the magnitude of the event. Actually
none of the stars we see are little ones. Each of them is many many many thousands of
time s bigger than the earth that we dwell in. Each of them. The gravity of the object
is directly proportional to its mass. If they are so big should they pull the earth or should
the earth pull the stars? It is never possible for the earth to pull the stars to itself.
But the Bible says that the stars will fall from the heavens. It is an unprecedented incident.
Meteorites may fall on the earth; they may be in bigger sizes too. But a full star the
earth cannot bear it. But the Bible says that it will happen. Bible calls it a Great Day.
Though it is against the laws of gravity, Bible says it will happen. They recently discovered
a phenomenon called the black hole. Black hole is not a visible one. It is invisibly
dark because of its great gravitational force. That force of its gravity is such that, it
can pull anything that comes near it even if it is a star to itself. It not only pulls
them to itself but also crushes them. Nothing, not even light can escape a black hole. If
the earth along with the stars get caught in a mighty black hole such a event as described
in the Bible could easily happen. hWa6 We have gathered here to meditate the topic Preparation
