"Godan Daginn!" My name is Eddy, and I arrived in October 2010 to do a French
civic voluntary service of ten months through the organisation
'Solidarites Jeunesses'. My voluntary service in SEEDS organisation
has been an enriching and varied expererience in different points of view:
Meeting the local people and enjoying a collective life in the SEEDS team.
SEEDS show an open spirit of sharing and give the opportunity to cross frontiers in
the international workcamps they organise.
My project in Iceland involved being in different workcamps, for example:
Working in an organic farm, helping the Red Cross prepare cultural events with the city,
communicating within SEEDS, promoting international volunteering and working in
the National Park.
We have had the possibility to travel throughout Iceland to motivate workcamps
and be the contact for the Icelandic hosts. This experience in Iceland has been
important personally, for me but also to be able to form friendships with the other
volunteers. So, lots of new things, another vision of wild nature, the respect of it's
fragility and discovering the unbelievable natural phenomena.
For me this island inspires much respect by its natural beauty. I have learned to be
flexible and to adapt myself to different situations. Lots of personal changes and
investment have been necessary during the ten impressive months. A big thank you
to 'Solidarities Jeunesses' who allowed me to take this experience and definitely thank
you to SEEDS and its creator Oscar Uscategui, who
received me with such generosity. One more thing... buy a plane ticket
and leave for a great adventure in unknown territory!
Bye Bye, TAKK FYRIR.
