We've developed a range of exciting new degree courses at the University of Cumbria Business
School based around career opportunities. Our approach to student learning is to focus
on their individual development, so class sizes are small and access to tutors is very
easy. The University of Cumbria Business School
has got a new selection of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for the home students
and also very attractive for the international student market. At the undergraduate level,
we have from the BA (Hons) International Business, to Retail Marketing and MBA multidisciplinary,
international business and to Leadership and Policing, for example. And all these courses
take place in our main campuses up in Carlisle and also in Lancaster.
The University of Cumbria's Business School is committed to supporting the region's economic
growth. We're focused on Carlisle, and after talking to partners in that city, in the City
Council and the Chamber of Commerce, we're setting up a Business Interaction Centre in
the city, which will support businesses by providing short courses, part-time degrees
and, critically, business incubation. So we'll be allowing our own students, graduates, and
also local community groups to set up business start ups in the centre, and to support their
growth. CRED is a specialist research centre. We do
research and consultancy for outside organisations. We also publish academic work as well on issues
to do with regions. CRED's been in existence for quite some time in Cumbria. CRED is a
research centre that specialises in issues to do with regional economies and so it's
an area that's very interdisciplinary. It's of interest to people in business and management,
but also economic geography, economists, political scientists...
