Julie: Welcome to Shopify. My name is Julie, and in just a few minutes, I’ll be showing
you how to get your online store up and running.
Let’s start by signing up. Once you’ve chosen your plan, you’ll need to name your
store, and choose your web address. After you’re done filling out your payment details,
you’ll receive an email confirmation about your store’s creation.
Now I’ll visit my new web address, and see what my store looks like. By adding slash
“admin” to my URL, I can login and access the admin panel. This is where you can manage
every aspect of your online store.
Now let’s create a new product. After I’ve given my product a title and a distinctive
description, I can upload some images too. Let’s choose a price, and track inventory
for this product. I’m also going to tag my product, and add it to the front page.
There is it, my first Shopify product. Let’s see how it looks on the front page. So far,
my front page is nice, but I’d really like to add a logo.
I’ll go to my theme settings, and make a few changes. Each Shopify theme is highly
customizable, so you can give it your own personal touch. First, I want to change my
product titles to blue, and make the background a bit more colourful. Finally I specify that
I want to use a custom logo and then upload my own.
Now I’ll reload my front page, and see my new changes. And there they are; my new logo
and background.
Now let’s try creating our first order, by buying this t-shirt. After adding the t-shirt
to the cart, we need to check-out, and fill out the customer details. Before creating
this order, I took the liberty of setting up a few payment gateways. Now we’ll be
able to accept credit card or Paypal payment. Since this is a test order, using the bogus
gateway, you can enter anything for the payment details. As you can see, the new order was
created.
In your Shopify admin panel, the new order will show up immediately. You’ll also be
notified with an email, and optionally via mobile notification. From here you’ll be
able to capture payment, and fulfull your items when they’ve shipped. You can also
view further details about the order and your customer.
And that’s it. We went from sign-up to creating our order in no time flat. Thanks for watching,
I can’t wait to see your new store.
