thanks for joining me in this podcast i want to show you how to use photoshop
touch
to make great backgrounds for your movie projects in exactly the right size that
you're going to need for the video
go ahead and open up photoshop touch it's a 9.99 app
first time that you load it up its gonna ask if you wanna allow them to send
information go ahead and allow
now we're going to go ahead and tap on begin a project
the first time you start this up its gonna ask to access your location you're
gonna need that to access your camera roll
so go ahead and tap ok
now to get where i want you to be i'm going to have you hit cancel because
we're gonna start one from scratch
i'm only showing you a few things in photoshop
but if you were interested in this app it's it's a very powerful app
go to the tutorials to learn more about it
we're gonna start with the plus sign down at the bottom and you're going to create
a new one
this is exactly why i love this app for making backgrounds for my video projects
and green screen projects i can tell it exactly the height and width I need
for my movie camera
most movie cameras today are 1280
hit check by 720 if yours is different
size your background accordingly
tap ok
and we have our first layer
when you first get and it's going to give you a little tour
i'm gonna show you the tools if you need to make
it titles slide
a background slide for your chromakey- green screen project
and a credit slide let's get started by tapping anywhere to get rid of those
blue
information bullets
and get started with bringing in one of our first backgrounds
I'm gonna show you how to make the title slide the one thing that you do need to know
is that in photoshop your images are built on layers which are over here on the right
side
what i want to do is add a new layer
that's a photo layer
i'm going to get that photo from my local photos camera roll
i downloaded
some images earlier to use my project this is the one that i wanted to use for
my title
it's gonna come up on that sized canvas for you- you need to stretch
and move this image to fit that canvas
the first thing i wanted to do
is make sure that the width
is correct on both sides
once i know the width is there
i'm gonna move it over slightly so i could see my boundaries and i want to make
sure that i get more of that top part in my image
then that bottom part
and then once i haven't about where i want I slide it back over to cover
the spot
when i'm done
i hit that blue checkmark to say i'm ready to move on
i now have great sized image for my title
the next thing is i need to know how to put on text you need to find that
& sign up here in the upper right-hand corner
tap it and then tap text
it's going to throw a text box into your screen
and you need to look down at the bottom in order to type what you want so I'm going
to put the title
the title of this one is called hearing dogs
need to make sure since a it's title i have capitals
hit return when you're done and then I want to choose a font.
now the one thing that you want to make sure since this is the title is that
your font is pretty bold i like this cooper
and then once i get it on my screen i'm gonna tappan hold
in the center
to move it where i needed to be
the other things that you can do with it is change the color
i can either choose a color over here but just remember you don't want
darkened dark and light on light it needs to be opposite
so i'm going to use this dropper and pick it up this darker brown color
and then noticed that it matches
one of my darker colors are already on the screen
tap the check when you're done
you'll see that you now have another layer
and that layer is my text layer
it's important to know that you could only put text one line at a time that
they're each
considered it's only here so we're gonna add one more layer to this title slide
will be done
when you come up here to the add text
and we're gonna put are production company name
You're going to tap in there and hit the X
and type it in
return when done
we'll want to resize that want it to be smaller
tap in center to move
hit the checkmark
and i think it's looking pretty good i'm done with my title slide now i want to
say save it but... how to save that is kinda tricky 'cause here it's really hidden
you have to find that back arrow up at the top lefthand corner if i tap it
then it asked me if i want to save and i do wanna say save on this one
and the first time you're going to get this message state no thank you to the adobe
creative cloud
and now have an untitled project here
and I'm going to tap on untitled and title it title slide
and if i want to go back and make changes i can
it's as simple as that
let's go ahead and go back out 'cause we're going to start our second slide
the next background I'm going to give you tips on how to create
is the one for your chroma key/ Green screen portion where you can have actual people
in front of it so let's get started I'm going to tap on the plus sign
the dimensions should be 1280 by 720
tap OK
gonna make a new layer down here at the plus sign
photo layer
go out to my camera roll
and I'm going to this one now when you're looking for photos for the background
you're going to make sure it's not too busy and that if you want text on it
that you can be able to actually read the text and not have a whole lot of
stuff on it
the other thing that you need to keep in mind
is
where the people are going to be in relationship
to your background
so just in case it you know that they're going to be filmed on
the left side verses the right to say this is the perfect
image
you may have to flip the direction and you can't do that with the tools if
you look down at the bottom
you're going to have the mirrored image the second icon here if I tap that
it's going to flip it when you're ready at the checkmark
when it comes to a chromakey background sometimes i don't need to do anything to it
other than just change the dimensions
so if i wasn't going to add any text or any other images on here
i may just be done to be able to go back and start my next slide but watch while
i quickly put text on here for a bulleted points
if you do put on bulleted points
remember that you may have to have more than one slide
four this part because this like the body of your report
that each paragraph for each scene might have a different background
it's up to you to decide in your team
all right now i'm done with my text
noticed that i kept that side over there on the left empty cuz im and making sure
that my people are going to go over there if you need to make any
adjustments to any of these layers over here on the side
remember that you need to select the layer that you want to adjust
by tapping at over there on the right
and then find these crosshairs up at the top
that's going to select
that
layer for you
so that you can to resize or you can move
where you wanted to go
if you have a layer that you want to delete you can tap on the layer
hit these double pieces of paper here underneath the layer board
and then tap on the trash can and that will delete your layer for you
when i'm done
i wanna tap the back arrow
i want to tap on save
and i'm ready for my third slide my third slide is just going to be
a credit slide
so it's no different than what the title slide was
i'm going to create that quickly
OK-done with this one going to go back out
taps save
wanna make sure that i title it
title this one
and now i'm ready to export these out to the camera roll so that i can get them
on my mac computer
for my movie-making project
you can also bring these into
a movie making project on your high pat if you're using imovie there just wanted
to do chromakey-green screen part
to send out you need to find the box with the out in a row
going to tap on that
i'm going to tell it to save to my camera roll
and i tap on the images i want to save
i can choose the format for which i want to send it
JPEG and both PNG work
PNG is probably the more standard one that i'm seeing today
tap on ok
and they're now on my camera roll you can go to your camera rolling email them
out to yourself you could have also emailed them out here
but will be collecting them getting them ready for your movie-making project
later remember that during the editing if you need to make any changes to your
backgrounds
just come right back in here and make those changes
send them back out and you'll be ready to go
hope you enjoyed this podcasts
i can't wait to see what you guys create
