Before we break, Newt Gingrich. Newt Gingrich had an affair, and he was recently asked about
it by the Christian-- by CBN, the Christian Broadcast Network. And when he was asked about
it, his answer for why he had the affair, his explanation, was really very weird. And
I'm not going to tell you what it was, I'm going to play it for you and see what you
think about what he had to say here.
David Brody: You know the question, and I'm not going to ask it the way everybody else'll
ask it, but as it relates to the past and some of those personal issues that you've
had, you've talked about how God is a forgiving god, and I'd like you to expand upon that
as you went through some of those difficulties...
David: Right.
Brody: ... how you saw God's forgiving nature in all of that?
Newt Gingrich: Well, I mean, first of all, there's no question that at times in my life,
partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too
hard, and that things happened in my life that were not appropriate. And what I can
tell you is that when I did things that were wrong, I wasn’t trapped in situation ethics,
I was doing things that were wrong, and yet I was doing them.
David: Yeah. So listen to what he said, Louis. This is one of the most unbelievable explanations.
He was so passionate about the country, he loves America so much...
Louis: And working so hard that he just...
David: Naturally, when you love your country, you sleep with staffers 23 years younger than
you. It's just, it's A, B. B follows from A, very clearly. The more you love your country,
the younger the staffers are that you cheat on your wife with. I mean, is that what he's
telling us here?
Louis: So if you don't sleep with staffers...
David: You must hate your country.
[Laughter]
Louis: Right.
David: If you don't, it must be you're not passionate enough about your country. And
he was giving these family values speeches while he was involved with mistresses, and
it almost sounds like... when he says that, it's almost like the son of God excuse today,
right? If somebody said hey... if you say to your wife you're pregnant, but I've been
gone for a year overseas. Oh, it's the son of God. I haven't been cheating, it's the
son of God. Who would believe that, right? And who believes that Newt Gingrich's affairs
are a result of just how much he loves America? It's really incredible.
Louis: Very strange.
David: Let's take a break. Make sure that you are getting the bonus show. We're talking
about the Idaho rancher who is actually a Boston mobster, substitute teachers are showing
up drunk, the Discovery, shuttle Discovery is flying no more, and plenty more. www.DavidPakman.com/membership.
We'll be back after this.
