The very special christmas series is the most successful
music
philanthropy
collaboration in history
of the music business.
It's such an honor to be on the first A Very Special Christmas album since 2003.
I think it's good to have that a new christmas album for every generation.
I mean, on this record it's going to be Miley Cyrus along with many other amazing, like Sean Kingston, who I love.
Hey, we're the Carter twins and we are super excited to be on the Very Special Christmas album, volume 7.
With a bunch of our friends, like Colbie Callait, Miley Cyrus and Carrie Underwood.
I feel like it's big, I'm happy to be a part of it. I can't wait to see the end results.
This new album represents
a new generation of artists, a new generation of young people claiming the mantle of leadership.
These are young people who want to be
symbols of acceptance, symbols of inclusion.
They want to entertain people around the messages that everyone deserves a chance, everyone belongs,
everyone deserves to be valued.
Without all of the contributions of so many producers, artists,
record company executives
and so many others. Without all of them,
we would not be able to be making the difference around the world that this series has made
and continues to make everyday.
A Very Special Christmas benefits Special Olympics, which provides year-round sports training for people
who are have intellectual disabilities.
Make it official. Volunteer, coach or compete. Go to specialolympics.org to find out how you can help.
And be a fan of dignity, acceptance and the human race. I am.
Over a hundred million dollars
have been raised for Special Olympics athletes around the world by pioneers like Vicki and Jimmy Iovine,
Bobby Shriver, Jerry Moss.
People who saw
in this movement, saw in the athletes of Special Olympics
a kind of artistic energy, the desire to express yourself, the desire to be free of limitations,
of stereotypes, of bias.
A sense in which,
our athletes are themselves artists.
I love to be with my special friends
and I like to learn from them. I learn persistence,
I learn guts, I learn courage.
This is the future. It was really that spirit that started Special Olympics.
I think my mother's legacy is that she reminded everybody that if you have a dream,
you should fight for it.
Hey everybody, make sure you go on specialolympics.org
to learn more about Special Olympics. And find out how you can help.
She would be rushing up to every one of these artists to say thank you for believing in a more hopeful future.
The young artists on this album are champions. They can reach people in a way no one else can.
As they make their message heard
that it's not cool to use the word retard, that it's not cool to use the R-word,
I think we have a chance to make a difference.
We want all of our fans to take the pledge and support the elimination of the R-word.
It's your boy Sean Kingston
and I'd like to tell my fans do not, don't use the r-word.
Don't say the R-word, even if you don't mean it.
My mom would always play the Very Special Christmas albums, we have all of them. They are my memories of Christmas.
It's wild, you know what I mean, being a part of this album.Because so many cool
musicians, artists have been a part of it for
years and now being able to, you know,
be right up there with the big dogs, even being invited to do the CD is wild.
I can't wait to see what people think of the song.
Buying this A Very Special Christmas 7 album helps guarantee the future of this movement.
