This is a guide to creating an online ePortfolio using a Google Sites template.
To get started you'll need to login to your student email using your usual single sign
on. Once you've logged in, use the icon on the
top right hand side of the page where you usually access your calendar or Google drive,
and select the Google sites app. Once you're in Google sites you need to browse
the gallery for the correct template. It's in the Schools and Education category,
so highlight that and then search for Griffith Enrich ePortfolio.
You'll see a preview of the template and on the top right hand side of the screen and
you need to confirm you wish to use that template. When you name your site bear in mind you'll
probably want to share it with academic staff or possibly a potential employer, so keep
it unique, but also make it quite professional. On this screen you can also select a theme,
although you're not locked in to this choice, you can change it at a later time.
Once you're happy with your selections choose create at the top of the page.
You've now created your online ePortfolio. A t this point you can begin editing and changing
the content to reflect your personal experience and the types of skills you wish to showcase.
To edit the pages simply choose the edit page icon on the top right.
Using the insert menu you can choose to insert images, tables, text boxes and many other
features to help customise your pages. While you're editing your page you can also
update the layout, there are many different column options to choose from. When you're
happy with your changes remember to choose save on the top right of your screen.
If you wish to insert a new page you do so with the new page icon. Once you've named
your page you need to choose where to locate it. If you put it at the top level it will
appear in the navigation bar. In this example I'm creating a page for a
particular community internship course and I'm going to place it under the Work and Clinical
Placements page. If you wish to change the title of the page
you can do so by deleting the existing title and retyping a new name. Any changes you make
will be reflected in the navigation pane. If you need to delete a page you can do so
using the more menu. Using this menu you can also copy pages, you can create templates
and you can move the pages around in the navigation. When it's times to share your ePortfolio you
can change the share settings using the share button. When you create it, only you will
be able to view it, but you can make it public on the web, you can provide access to anyone
who has the link, or you can share it just with specific people.
Remember to change the access at the bottom of the page from can edit to can view. It's
most likely you'll only want people to view your pages.
In this manage site area you can also update the theme - there may be times you want to
make it a little more colourful. Remember as always to save your changes.
Your ePortfolio is now ready to go and you can continue to change, update and build your
site throughout your degree.
