>>Erik: After the University of Michigan, you`re working for a number of jobs building
skill sets working toward your ambition to be a Sports Broadcaster. And then change occurs,
and you decide to go into law school. What happened?
>>Jen: When I was working in public relations and doing productions on the side, I was able
to see a lot of different groups in the sports business through the company I worked for
and I realized that the people that ran the show were all lawyers. And that is the case
for most sports organizations. So I realized to really be a valuable asset to whatever
company I ended up working for, whether it was a league, a team, a media company. Having
a law degree would help me succeed. I might not practice law very long, I might end up
on the business side immediately. But having the mind set of a lawyer and learning to think
that way seemed to be something that was an asset in the sports world and I think it has
helped me get to an in house position, like I wanted and it also helps that I get to be
taken seriously because I have a law degree.
