here in the Spreefield
aConstruction and Housing Association. The cooperative has
just around 60 Comrades.
About 150 people will work here and play live.
The cooperative
is not speculative.
its not a pure joint building venture.
where people
immediately also start private property.
it enables
democratic planning
it is one head a voice
a cooperative
is well capable of
to build and
to manage
and possibly later plan and facilitate
other projects
The idea here as a cooperative on the Spree field
or on the Spree River Berlin
is to bring
together private and public interests elegant
that is, people should
allowed to live here beautiful and environmentally and socially
but the public should
continue to play here and gardening and organizing.
We see three houses

there are 20 apartments per house to the planned
and below the ground floor but no private uses public
as cafe or daycare or workshop
or youth room
and boardwalks
or the riverside path will pass
there is also a way
from Köpenikerstr to the Spree
very exciting is the surrounding area
for which we have the idea
of urban permaculture.
This we want realise in the coming years and decades
The houses are planned as passive houses
which means
that they are very well isolated
they have good doors and windows
we will not use
any energy
for the heating
There are solar panels on the roofs.
I am also in the cooperative.
we have
to pay between 30 and
50 percent of the construction costs
as a deposit in the cooperative
The construction costs
are around 2,000 euros a square meter
We manage this
in various different ways
some take out a loan, some can pay it.
Meaning depending on how large one's own home is
we have to
deposit the money
as a
Cooperative contribution
and according to it we have to pay rent in the coming years
until construction costs are paid off.
the rent will be somehow inbetween 6 and
9€ per square meter
In the cooperative, there are different types of housing
lets say there are normal housing associats but
There are also several group homes, residential communities
It is actually in the Articles of the whole Cooperative that it
is interested to enable
alternative forms of housing
So the way was already prepared in the
in the statutes and
and so the communities have come to live.
The point is that we want
Community
uses
and can share space
but have our own homes as well
as a retreat.
So we we reduce our own homes and so have
more square feet of community space
