Virabhadrasana I, warrior I, is a pose that can be added into the sun salutation. It's
not a part of the traditional sun salutation. So we're going to go from our our lunge position,
Ashwa Sanchalanasana, and with the inhale, we're going to go ahead, and plant the right
heel, spinning in towards the mid-line. And then with a new inhale, we're going to lift
the torso, releasing the shoulders. We're going to pause to take the time to take the
left femur, left thighbone, and shift it back into the hip. We want to be sure that the
right foot, the baby toe side to your right foot is grounded, so that the heel is not
collapsing. There's a strong effort to reach, or create length from the armpit to the baby
fingers. Shoulder blades are coming down, and if it's available, go ahead and look up.
So it's a strength pose, absolutely strengthening the legs, creating alignment from the ankle,
to the knee, to the hip; creating space in the intercostal muscles in the ribs, lifting
from the back of the knee. Nope; no, you were right the first time, yep, yep; Virabhadrasana
I.
