I'm Antony Moore; I'm Operations Director for Fronter in Pearson UK. Fronter's the learning
platform that Pearson operates. Fronter has been around for 15 years and operates in a
range of different countries across the world.
I want to talk to you today about some of the challenges that here at Pearson we know
you face at secondary schools and perhaps how we may be able to help you to solve and
overcome some of those challenges.
We know that secondary schools are large and complex organisations and it can be difficult
to manage communication across different departments and different sites. We know that increasingly
there's a focus both internally in schools and externally from other organisations around
e-safety and itís important to ensure that your pupils and students have access to safe,
online environments that you can support them in using and you know that they are safe when
they are using them. We know increasingly that you need to gather
evidence to support your own self assessments and your own assessments on how you feel you're
performing in regards to Ofsted and other external pressures. We know that communicating
with parents is increasingly a challenge and increasingly is something that you need to
focus on. We believe that we have solutions that can
help you to address some of those challenges. So Fronter is a web-based internet browser-based
learning platform that enables all learners, teachers, parents to access that platform
anywhere in the world providing they have an internet connection. It's a fully supported
managed service so the school doesn't need any extra hardware or additional staff to
manage that hardware - we do all of that for you.
Fronter enables departments to communicate within themselves, to share their learning
and lessons with students, to mark work online and enables students to start to gather their
evidence for course-based assessment during their GCSE and other course studies. It enables
departments to share information both within year groups and also across other departments
so that hopefully you can start to cut out some of the duplication that often is a feature
of large organisations. It will help you as senior leaders in your schools to gather information
from a whole range of different departments around your school and be able to track progress
and see the kind of learning and activities that are taking place in classrooms right
across the school.
We also enable you to gather evidence for Ofsted - so you can gather how your governors
are involved in challenging the leadership of the school. You can gather evidence around
how teachers are assessing inside classrooms and assessing pupil progress and you can pull
all that together in a safe online environment where you can give your Ofsted inspector at
a very momentís notice access to all that information knowing that you have it all there
