I've been a vendor for Vocational Rehabilitation for about six
years now.
Since the early '90s.
Since about uh... 2001
so quite a few years.
It was a very easy process. I went onto the internet web site
and one of the nice counselors at Vocational just guided me step by step.
They told me what site to access
and it probably took me
maybe twenty minutes to do it. It was very easy. Not hard at all.
I actually had to show VR a couple different
examples of what we do as far as our work is concerned and then
go to some different trainings and things for all the different vendors that I'm
dealers for. And fill out some paperwork and
we became a certified dealer with VR.
I remember the application was really brief that's one of the things that
appealed to me
The application process was pretty straightforward very basic,
painless process.
The main reason we became a vendor is because a lot of our clients
can't afford the modifications that are done. Some of the modifications we do are
quite expensive to these vehicles and
because of that, their involvement with VR then allows us to become
a vendor for VR to be able to not only help the client but also get the
funds for the client to pay for the modifications as well.
I decided that I wanted to participate in a program that would allow me to help
members of the community who otherwise may not be able to use my services
if they had to pay out-of-pocket so this is a nice way for me to
help people to actually access the dentist.
After I obtained my PHD and my psychology license
one of the most natural things to do was to become a VR vendor
because of their diversity of the population and
its relevance to things I'm interested in.
I love it because the clientele is normally
for the most part very appreciative of what we do and what VR does for them
and uh...
I think it's a great program for people to be associated with.
I have many patients that I continue to see
once we're done with the Vocational Rehabilitation process
They stay on as my patients and we have lasting relationships that go on for
many years so
it's a valuable experience because I really developed good relationships with
my patients.
And I enjoy dealing with
the VR counselor
uh... as the source of referral and information on the person I'm to
provide services for
uh... it's much more personable than simply having
uh... someone with an insurance policy call up and say I wanna make an appointment
It's convenient, you meet a lot of great people and the people at VR are so helpful
It's definitely something
If I had not been a vendor of VR, I could understand why someone would
encourage me to become a vendor.
I would highly recommend it to anyone out there that's interested um...
The people,
the counselors are great. The people that I've work with have been
wonderful. They
certainly go out of their way to help the clients.
