Hello we're the Joy Formidable. Rhydian and I met in school and we started writing together
for the very first time and that kind of marked the beginning of this band Joy Formidable.
I saw an add you put up. But that wasn't for Joy Formidable. No but um it lured me in and
I've been stuck here ever since. I think coming over to the states was a big thing for this
band actually because you know we very much relied on ourselves. We had enough to support
Passion Pit for a few days. It was a big thing for us you know we didn't have much money
we had to really look to ourselves to figure out it was a big risk it cost a lot to do
it you know it really helped us extend in our fan base I suppose isn't it. Very true.
The making of Wolf's Law logistically decided to go to Portland, Maine and kind of locked
ourselves a way in a little cabin in the woods there up by Sebago Lake. Wolf's Law initially
is a scientific theory and it talks about how when you put stress on bone on your body
your body adapts to deal with it. We kind of borrowed it and made it our own symbol
for the record I suppose. Surprisingly enough I grew up listening to Frank Zappa and I'm
still listening to it today. I like really kind of pumping you know 90s Dance Music.
Yeah Shirley Manson. Actually people more than anything with unique voices and very
strong. The thing of this band is like we just want to be criticized on the merit, the
soul and the songwriting. We want them to go away feeling something I think that's um
if we, we were ever to have a fear it's the fear of things just being kind of bland and
nice and people walking away without kind of any opinion on anything. That's what you
have in that hour, hour and a half, two hours you play in a set that's the moment when you
can really kind of connect on lots of different, different levels with people. I think that
is what we enjoy mainly at this point in time is sharing these songs live with as many people
as many people as we can. Lots of music festivals and then back to the states in September.
Constant touring. That there isn't an end in sight you know but we are happy with that
you know. It's not a job you know it's a great life style if you are ready to kind of suck
it up.
