Is Ingush youth generally interested in education?
The prestige of education increased among young Ingushs over the past 10-15 years.
Young people seek to study.
The Ministry of Education of Russian Federation supports them
and allocates special places in Russian establishments of higher education,
including those of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
And young people hurry to take this opportunity.
Republican government helps as well.
With the help of special programs, some 300-400 students come to Moscow to study
and many of them graduate with excellent grades.
There are some special programs to support these people.
We help some 40 students in Moscow.
But as they return to our Republic, they can’t always find a job.
The problem of unemployment is really serious in our republic.
On the other hand, the best specialists prefer to stay in cities
where they got their education and help their families from there.
And that constitutes a certain influx of funds to the republic.
Cultural and spiritual development of a person is also important.
People who grew up in mono-ethnic surroundings always differ from those
who grew up or received education in poli-ethnic society.
The latter set a positive example.
What steps are being taken to solve the problem of unemployment?
There are some interesting initiatives, including those of the head of the Republic.
For example, orders to governmental officials to employ people who recently graduated.
The wage rate might not be full, but that’s still something, as they’ll receive job experience as well.
This way a young generation of government administrators
will be brought up to gradually replace the old ones.
Such initiatives exist only in our region.
Some projects are being supported by Ingush Employment Service.
But it’s still not enough.
And the situation with young people’s unemployment is the same in many republics of the North Caucasus.
And what about Muslim education in Ingushetia?
Is the youth interested in religion?
It is peculiar that contemporary young people from the Caucasus have a high interest towards religion.
We have many establishments for religious education.
Each settlement has a Madrasah where school children can study Arabian language.
An Islam Institute opened in Chechnya.
So there are means to receive religious education here.
But one should always try to do better:
to increase the number of universities and the level of education there.
There’s a great potential to this interest towards Islam.
What regions are the most problematic?
Conflicts, terrorism and instability thrive in regions where the general level of education is low.
So the ignorance is the root of all problems.
We need to develop spiritual education, to promote it among general population.
Is there any centralized control over the spiritual upbringing in the republic?
Yes, of course.
Each region has its own Spiritual Muslim Department, we have muftis.
All spiritual educational establishments have to report to mufti.
Do young people from Ingushetia go to study abroad?
What countries do they prefer?
Not only young people go to study abroad.
The level of emigration is pretty high.
In the last 10-15 years the level of labor emigration increased considerably.
People, sometimes with their whole families, move not only to other Russian regions,
but also to Europe – Benelux, France, Germany, Austria.
Some students settle in regions where they received their education.
But the major part of them returns to the republic.
And it is good as these young qualified specialists, even if they don’t get employed right away,
boost the general cultural level of your society, create healthy competition.
