It's still not official, but at this point it might as well be. New images of Google's
upcoming Nexus 5 handset appeared in the Google Play store Thursday night.
Engadget reports some Google Play visitors saw a listing for the Nexus 5 alongside Google's
Nexus 7 and 10. It looks exactly like the leaked images and video that have circulated
in the last couple months.
There didn't appear to be rhyme or reason to who was able to see the new picture, and
clicking on it didn't yield any further details. The store listed a starting price of $349,
which is in line with expectations. (Via CNET)
Manufacturer documentation and FCC testing paperwork have given us a good idea of the
internals. It's expected the Nexus 5 will ship with a Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE,
the latest Bluetooth and WiFi standards and at least 2GB of RAM.
And don't forget Android 4.4. The high-resolution Google Play render showed off some freshly
designed icons and rearrangement of the default homescreen — Hangouts appears to have superseded
the messaging app shortcut, for example. (Via The Next Web)
Google appears to have removed the listing from the store for all visitors, but it's
probably not for the sake of secrecy anymore.

to the official version. (Via BGR)
All that remains is for Google to finally start selling the thing. An official launch
is widely expected near the end of October.
