Managing and maintaining files inside of Dreamweaver is relatively easy using the Files Panel.
First of all, you can select any of the folders you wish to use as a starting point. In this case we're
going to select the main site folder and right-click on it. Select "New File" from the context menu
give this file a name such as "test".
And now we have a new file available to work with.
Let's go ahead and create a new file inside of the images folder. Right-click on that folder, select New File
and we'll call this one test2.html.
You can delete files by right-clicking on them and selecting Edit > Delete.
You can duplicate files by right-clicking on them selecting Edit > Duplicate.
You can rename a file by right-clicking on it selecting Edit > Rename
and hitting the Enter key when you're done.
Folders are created basically the same way.
Right-click on the starting point, such as the primary site folder.
Select New Folder and give it a name such as media.
You can move files around simply by dragging and dropping.
Here, we'll take this hello.html file and move it into the media folder.
If there is code with links inside of that file, Dreamweaver asks us if we want to update those links. We'll go ahead and select Update.
The file has now been moved. Dreamweaver allows you to maintain your site synchronized between your local folder
and your remote FTP server.
You can click on this... You can click on the synchronize button
where you have two options. You can synchronize the entire web site or only the selected files.
We'll go ahead and select, the entire website. The software also allows us to choose whether we want to put the newer files on the remote,
get the newer files from the remote server, or synchronize the files both ways.
Let's go ahead and select Get and Put newer files.
Clicking on the preview button,
the system generates a list of files that are going to be transferred.
Some files will be placed on the remote server.
While other files will be downloaded from the remote server into the local folder. We'll click the
OK button to proceed with the synchronization process.
Congratulations, you now know how to manage files inside of Dreamweaver.
