I'm going to sound like a total nerd, my mother is completely into pirates.
It's a whole family joke.
I had my eighteenth birthday party on international Talk Like a Pirate Day,
it was completely pirate themed.
So when I found out we were building a ship I was like a five-year-old in a candy store.
But I also really love Pirates of Penzance. I've seen the movie a couple times with my sister
because we both love musicals
so I'm really excited we're doing it here. Especially since we get to do
like the really cool set stuff especially in this space
because it's usually a small spaces reserved for concerts and things
and so building a set in here
it's a lot different experience than it is in Potter Hall or
even in the Black Box Theatre. We built this pirate ship and it's going to move
on stage and then
back off stage.
So it's great.
The ship is really geniusly built, it breaks up into pieces so it's easier to move from place to place.
It's a very sturdy construction because
there will be at least five
pirates standing on the ship
as well as people pushing on and off. So we had to make a big enough to be pulled
by five people plus their weight plus they'll stil be able to move and things.
The best thing is that our boss is just as excited about it as we are.
So like
he's saying we might get all the techies together and take a big picture on the pirate ship and then
just like label it "my job is better than your job."
It was fantastic to see something come from paper and then
become completely 3-D.
And it's a pirate ship so it's even better. It's gonna be great I think it's one of the
best ways to close it out, to put together a show
and watch it come to life.
And so it's really fantastic.
