As a freshman when your coming in it is your first year of college, so it is important
to be somewhere where you are comfortable, where you should look forward to you know
going back to your residence hall. It's definitely makes that transition to college life a little
bit easier. It doesnt have to be a place where you just go and sleep and get up and
do the same routine everyday. You can have a lot of fun in your residence hall because
these halls really are more than just a dorm and you can tell that they actually took a
lot of time and effort and thought into building the new residence halls. The rooms are very
nice. I have a granite counter-top in my room, my bed has a temperpedic mattress. Some of
them have twin sized extra long beds and some of them have double extra long. We added two
new styles of rooms that would be the two bedroom and four bedroom suites. In the new
residence halls there's just more space in between the beds, in the bathrooms, where
your going to you know sit at your desk, study and do homework. My closet is huge you cannot
bring more clothes to college than I thought and I have room for all of my clothes, so
that's something that is very important to me. Everything is set up perfectly for you,
when it comes to washing your clothes they have something set up now where you get a
text message when your clothes are done, or when a washer and dryer is free. I feel like
I'm living in a hotel sometimes but a very friendly hotel where everyone is a friend
and we all love each other. You just feel like it's bringing the big campus into a small
little home. Definitely the spaces that we have encourage people to branch out and get
out of their own room and actually go interact with people maybe say hello to someone you
didnt know before hand. We have vibrant common areas the colors in there are great
and the design is excellent. The couches and furniture are so comfortable so you'll definitely
have a great time with that. My favorite part is the rooftop garden on top of Champions
Court. There's places where you can just sit out and ya know put your lunch out. One of
my favorite things is the active learning center it's really open in there and like
everybody can go in there. This is going to be a great chance for students who have the
same class or something to kinda meet up together. It's very interactive, it's very open and
has a lot of windows a lot of natural light. Something that I love about all the new halls
is that a lot of them have more classrooms. Within some of our new residence halls we
have living learning programs, which offered different communities, based on your academic
interests or majors. So there is an opportunity for students to attend class in there own
residence hall, which is a great thing. Wake up five minutes before walk on downstairs,
its awesome. You want to work hard, you want to get those grades, and your motivated to
succeed. It encourages people to meet up and collaborate together and work together. They're
making students want to stay on campus, they're helping students stay here and get involved
and getting engaged. Students living in all the residence halls have the opportunity to
ya know be apart of something there. You just feel like a community. UK wants nothing more
than to watch every student succeed and I think these new residence halls and all the
accommodations they have is just another example of that.
