Facts About Ligers - Liger Facts The Lions Ground Entertainment Group
Panthera leo and Panthera tigris --The Liger
Renowned for its majesty
and nicknamed "the king of the jungle,"
the lion possesses both beauty and strength the Tiger is the largest member
of the felid (cat) family.
They sport long, thick reddish coat with white bellies and white and black
tails.
If Mammy is a tiger and daddy a lion, than you get a Liger.
But if mammy is a lion and daddy a tiger than
than you get a Tigon
WTF?
The Tigon the opposite of the Liger. You're still following me?
Ligers are Bigger, Faster & Stronger.
When he is fully grown he is expected to reach 3.5m
and more than 300kg. The Liger's top speed is about 50 mph
(80 km/h), although they normally do not need to run at
speeds
Ligers are the world's biggest cats, larger than their parents,
with the strength the lion and speed of the tiger combined
An average male liger stands almost 12ft tall on its hind legs and weighs up to half a ton, twice the weight
to half a ton
twice the weight on the wild lion or Tiger strangely
if the pairing is reversed and the mother is a lion and
the offspring known as the Tigon will be small
weighing less than 150 kilograms
Ligers and tigons are not thought to appear in the wild,
as the behavior and habitats have lions and tigers make into breeding unlikely
in the thirties and South Africa the two species were put in the same cage and
to the keeper's surprise they didn't fight in fact
they put up some Barry White and made love and the Liger was born
as hybrids ligers have low fertility rates
but some females have produced an offspring by mating with full lions or
Tigers
Liger males are totally infertile though.
On a typical day, a liger will devour 9kg of meat,
usually beef or chicken, and is capable of eating 45kg at a single
sitting
Tigons are in fact smaller than a lion or a tiger and I even harder to breed
than ligers and there are less tigons in the world.
Although tigons are more inclined to dwarfism,
it is not always the case however they weigh on average almost three times less
than a like a liger.
The liger do remind me of the Sable tooth tiger
