I would say that A/C Day is one of the biggest events
that Mount Holyoke hosts in the spring. And just because in numbers
we draw the biggest crowds and it's definitely something
that the Five Colleges are really interested in,
especially with the Five College Africa Program. We try to attend each other's events.
Are you lovin it? Cheers
I've been coming for about five years now. I come to every one that I can come to.
I would say that a third of the students in this show were in
my organic chemistry class.
I love coming because I get to see them in the classroom
being very quiet and very serious, and I get to see their real personalities
come out in these shows. And they're great!
They are really talented, so I love it.
A cappella group singing: not English
We'll just have a nice a cappella melody. So you guys can take time to enjoy
your food before you're thrown into the wildness of A/C Day.
It's also just a time for us to connect with all of our alums,
because we have a whole bunch of alums here and it's a really great occasion.
People come from all over the U.S.
It feels great to come back. MHACASA was a very big part of my life
when I was here at Mount Holyoke. It occupied most of my life
and I was very active. I've cooked for A/C Day, I performed for
A/C Day, I've hosted people, you name it.
The Cuban Dance is especially important because this is the first year.
We've been trying to reach out to our Latina sisters in the Caribbean.
And this year we have a plethora of them coming together,
and it's just exciting for me.
We try to be very open so that different people
can experience our culture however they want to,
whether by watching or whether by participating.
Being a group of women, it really shows what we are able to do.
Probably if we were in a coed environment or a much larger community,
it would not be as excellent a production.
A/C Day, other than an opportunity to educate the campus, about who we are
and the many backgrounds that we come from-- it's a chance to raise awareness
about a cause in one of our home countries. It's a chance to raise awareness
and raise the funds to give back to our homes.
This year it's going towards the Women in Congo project.
We're going to work feverishly to bring knowledge to the campus
and to raise at least three thousand dollars to give to the women of the Congo through
Women for Women International.
Your money is for a good cause, so please give us all another applause
