Dr. William W. Berry III:
“I think I’m just really humbled and honored to receive this award.”
“One of the things that makes Ole Miss a great American University is it’s commitment
to teaching and the focus that my colleagues and people all across campus have on student
learning in the classroom and so to be recognized at The University where teaching is held so
high is just really meaningful to me.”
“I think the first part of being an engaging professor is inviting the students into something
bigger to make the class more than just memorizing or regurgitating material but thinking about
things in a deeper way and thinking about things that matter beyond the institution.”
“Another important strategy I think I use in my classes is to try to get students to
think on three different levels not just to think about what is the ? But to think about
how does the law apply to different situations and what policies or ideas should we be thinking
about to figure out how to apply the aw and so I try to get my students to think on multiple
different levels.”
“For me it all started in law school, I really enjoyed the intellectual challenge
of the problems that were put b4 me by the professor and the idea of being able to engage
in that over time with students and teach students how to engage and that to me just
really appealed to me from the time I was in Law school and so it was something that
was always in the back of my mind to pursue once I graduated.”
“For me all of my former professors I think in someway are apart of how I teach but most
of all I’d like to thank my Wife and my Kids for being so supporting.”
