Today, Special lesson to improve your LoL skills in practice.
Last week, we talked about shotcalling and team strategies with MaKNoon and Reapered. This week, they will showcase shotcalling in real action.
[Last week: Team Strategies Episode]
I'm MaKNoon, the shotcaller.
I'm Reapered, the jungler.
[Dissect team strategies! / Here come MaKNoon and Reapered.]
I'll showcase what team strategy is for those who haven't had any strategies.
Like your jungle Gangplank?
[Reapered has been slain]
With just correct ban-picks, your win rate rises by 50%.
All our teammates provide information. Then I go, "let's go home and invade enemy blue buff."
"Alright, let's hunt the Dragon."
[MaKNoon's instinctive strategies]
[Reapered's meticulous strategies]
[Finally, some real actions!]
[LoL Summer Lesson Episode 7: The Commanders]
Before we begin, what would you say about today's lesson?
I'll show you MaKNoon-style dive shotcalling, reading the game flow with an animal instinct.
I'll show you my meticulous shotcalling, precisely checking even the placement of each ward.
We'll now look at a match between college girls. These beautiful players also garnered attention for their LoL skills.
Also, it was talked about for their poor strategies resulted in a very unlikely outcome.
We will take a look at and discuss the match with MaKNoon and Reapered.
[A showdown between beautiful college girls!]
[Beauty]
I want to win. / We will win it.
[Skills]
[But they lacked just one thing]
Ahri? A strange pick.
She's going overboard!
Shots Q! / It's a mistake.
Take Baron! At 47 min, you won’t be hurt by Baron!
Why don't they hit it?
[Seoul Women's Black Swuan vs. Sookmyung Women's LoLRole]
[What did they do wrong?]
There are Malphite, Amumu, and Blitzcrank. / Yeah. / Shen’s missing.
Oh, they left out Shen… / Pick what you’re good at.
That's the best pick. / That leaves you with no regret.
You can’t do your best playing a champ you’re not good at to fit the composition. Playing a champ you feel comfortable will be much better for the team.
[Let’s pick mid last. / You pick the top champ and I’ll pick mine.]
[Looks like Volibear will do. / Ok, Volibear. / Yes, Volibear.]
[I'll pick mine. I'll just play Varus. / Ok, pick Varus.]
Volibear? / That’s unexpected.
But, a Varus and Sona pair is strong.
Volibear comes top! What should I do?
[LoLRole perplexed by a Volibear pick]
What should I pick against Volibear? / Stay calm when this happens.
[Vladimir. / Should I pick Vladimir for you?]
Vladimir? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Let's take Vladmir.
LoLRole has an AoE-team fight composition, with Lux adding some poking to the team.
Black Swuan has a traditional gap closing composition.
I don’t think that’s a good analysis. Black Swuan has a better composition in the early-mid game.
All their champs have good initiation. Volibear, Jarvan, Ahri, Varus, and Sona.
It’s very good for assassination and therefore strong in the early-mid game.
What would you do differently?
If I were the leader, I'd pick a champ that can carry in the later game like Jax.
I would’ve replaced Amumu. / With whom?
Lee Sin wasn't banned. Adding some early-game strength to the jungler won’t be bad, as the team is now focused too much on the later game. Amumu isn’t the only late-game powerhouse.
For now, Black Swuan has a much stronger level 1 invasion. So they should invade first.
You might be wrong – Amumu can be threatening if he takes the bandage at level 1.
YOU might be wrong – Volibear’s passive is so strong at level 1.
I'd say whoever striking first will win. / That’s right.
Lux and Zyra have bindings too.
In Silver or Bronze, it’s like kids’ fight. First strike wins.
Straight skillshots are very effective at level 1, since champs tend to move in a line. / They’re seen.
If they come in this direction… / Black Swuan would… oh!
Weak damage. / Why is Jarvan going forward?
What’s this? First strike loses! What would your call be in this situation?
Firstly, minimize your laners’ loss, top in particular. She should go back to the lane ASAP, as the fight occurred far away, near the red buff.
A small XP difference can snowball massively in top.
Amumu’s walking. / Going up. / Though he’s an herbivore, he can… oh, he’s backing off.
An herbivore can be threatening with the double buffs. / Yes, and… Wow, Amumu coolly walks through the mid lane.
As they invaded the jungle near bot first, there are no wards around top. So a gank is worth a shot even with Amumu. But she just passes by.
Now Jarvan ganks. / Oh! Wow! Charm! / An awesome play.
Mid will always be ganked when your Flash is off. So you should play it safe and put wards until Flash is back on.
Otherwise you’ll be destroyed, crushed and devastated. Be careful when your Flash is off.
Oh, Ahri comes. / This gank could’ve been countered. / Two hit by Crescendo.
Ahri! / Autoattack! / Aw, no...
It's ok. We won.
This is important, what Jarvan just said.
She’s comforting her teammates. That’s an excellent attitude for the shotcaller.
What did Lux do? / Oh, Ahri goes ganking.
[Ahri ganks bot while Lux wastes her ult!!]
Jarvan goes in! / Wow. / Oh. / Demacia! / Wow!!
She’s a female LoL Messi.
[Lux shows up late]
[Nooooooooo!]
Why don't they say it's ok? / Because it's not.
It would’ve been 2 kills hadn’t she spent her ult.
[This ruined a Double Kill.]
Volibear is on top. / Amumu’s ready, right? / He was waiting.
Oh! Bandage steal!
Oh, now… / Look at Ahri. / She’s too strong.
Everyone’s low with their ults off. / Can’t Lux do anything?
Her E is now up. Ahh.. Oh!
Look at Ahri’s moves!
She’s superb!
Jarvan should’ve stayed with his team and use Smite. He didn’t and got the Dragon stolen.
When your mid outer turret is down, wards should be put in the paths in the jungle leading from mid to top and bot.
You can’t play the wards in the enemy’s jungle, but play defensively in your jungle to prevent further loss.
Don’t lose the map control. / Wow, she knows it. / That's why she's Messi.
She’s in Gold 3! / Yeah.
LoLRole has a… Bronze 1.
Vladimir is farming at top. Black Swuan should push mid before he comes back. “Do dive!” is what you need.
Amumu ults! What a clumsy team fight!
They shouldn’t have fought while Vladimir was away, getting well-fed.
It was reckless, like “I was hit! I can’t but rush in to protect my team!”
The enemy knows Vladimir is away at top.
You often say as a commentator Vladimir should play the leading role. Without the leading actor, you can’t make a block-buster.
Vladimir is the hero and Lux is the heroine. / … / Forget it.
The inner turret is down. Should score some kills. / They should back off. Volibear’s too tanky.
Volibear won't die. / You have to back off. / Oh! / Demacia!
Uh? / Varus is still healthy. It’s ok for now. / LoLRole used up a lot of their ults.
Huh? Uh? Huh? Oh!! / Varus lost? / He lost this? / How could they lose?
It wasn’t so good for Black Swuan, but Varus could freely deal damage when LoLRole rushed in.
At this point, Varus should’ve focus on key dealers. / LoLRole should’ve ignored Ahri backing off and kite enemy melee champs.
Then Black Swuan would’ve been in a bigger trouble. But LoLRole’s composition will get much stronger in the late game anyway.
Clearly, what they lack is a good shotcaller.
Volibear’s full of guts! But it was too reckless!
They made a comeback.
Black Swuan has always had the initiative to control the game flow. But they insisted on team fights against a team-fight composition only to lose.
If they want to push bot now, then one with the best escape and the best mobility should…
Black Swuan must strike first now!
Starting a fight like this is not good! Amumu is away! / Oh, wow.
Varus has just been killed. / Quinn freely deals damage! / Varus is down! They can't fight. / All dead.
This wraps up the game. / Black Swuan loses. [Black Swuan lost after a poor team fight with all dealers down]
Black Swuan lost this one.
So we just watched a match between LoLRole and Black Swuan.
Black Swuan had plenty of initiation in the early game.
Despite this advantage, they engaged in team fights against an AoE-team fight composition.
They failed to capitalize on the early advantage and that’s why they lost.
LoLRole could make a comeback with their AoE skills, grouping up and leading the opponents into team fights.
But it would’ve been better if they had picked one champ who could’ve make it easier in the early game.
That way, they would have had an easier game.
[Black Swuan has good skills but weak strategy]
[LoLRole’s better strategy overcame the skill gap]
[The pros to the rescue!]
Anything to say about today’s practice?
Black Swuan couldn’t carry the early advantage into the late game. I will try to complement that.
It looked like LoLRole didn't match Black Swuan in their pure skill level.
I’ll make up for the skill gap with my shotcalling and lead them to victory.
Any champ you don’t want to play against as Jarvan? / Lee Sin and Evelyn? / Okay, ban Evelyn.
Ban anything you feel tough, or we’ll ban Irelia.
We'll take Jarvan first. / Okay.
We can take Jarvan. They are concerned with top.
If they pick Lux, don't panic and counter her with Ahri.
Can I pick Lux first? / Yes, no problem.
Then I’ll pick an ADC or support? / Yes, let's just take ADC.
Ahri is Lux’s counter. / Lux, as expected. / They just made a poor pick.
I saw you’re good at landing Jarvan’s ult. Just do it on Lux.
What should I take? / Your position? / ADC. / Take whatever you’re good at.
Varus or Miss Fortune? / Fortune is good, but let's take Nami.
Let’s take Nami. / Yes, uh-oh, no. What do I do? / Can you play Zyra? / Zyra? If you're good with Zyra… / No, no. Sona. / No! I missed it.
I can’t, I can’t! / Time was up.
Will you play Miss Fortune? / But Varus is good, too. / I wanted Varus but couldn't pick him.
Don't have Varus? That’s okay.
Harass them a lot. I will finish them off.
Lux has Teleport. / It’ll be easy at mid, but be careful about Master Yi ganking.
Malphite, start with Doran's Shield and a potion. MaKNoon can't do much about that.
And rush Sunfire Cape. Once you have it, Renekton can't kill you. / Oh, really? / Yes.
We all have skins.
Let's invade. Let's go. Follow me here.
Let's just enjoy ourselves. / I'm nervous. / Have fun. / Don't get stressed.
If we lose, it's my fault. Come here. Let's go.
Let's go. When you're at a disadvantage, go invade. / Do I learn Light Binding, then? / No, wait for now.
I'll take Q for Malphite. / Okay.
Go, go, go! Kill Master Yi!
Kill MaKNoon. / He took the Elixir. Let's back off. / Oh, no! He got away!
Here, here.
Oh, no! / Flash. / I did it earlier.
Nice, now back off. Very good. Awesome. / Go, Seoul Women's.
Seoul Women’s can always take First Blood, right?
Go home and buy another Long Sword. / Long Sword? / Harass them a lot at bot. / Okay.
Gank mid. Nice shot! This is SWU. / We rock! / Yes!
Push mid and let Master Yi come. Push the lane all the way. / It's fun. / LoL is fun. / LoL is fun!
I'll cover top. 00:19:47.000,00:19:55.000 Reapered has to come help top. Yes, here he comes.
Ignite! / Good job. / Wow, good job! / Let’s push the lane.
It looks like Master Yi would gank mid now. Jarvan should cover bot.
I’ll gank mid. Shoot your Q! / Miss Fortune ran out of mana. / No, I died.
Jarvan, Jarvan. Nice. / Good. / Should I place a ward here? / I'm coming.
Oh, no. Be careful.
Nice Charm. Now back off! / One autoattack! / Oh, no! / Nice.
Lux, go mid. Keep on pushing bot. / Oh, Malphite, can you kill him?
Should I ult him? I did it. Hurry up!
What’s this? Why doesn't he die? / Don't chase. / No, no, no, no, no! / No way…
Did you ult him? / I did, but Renekton’s health suddenly recovered.
Take the red, Miss Fortune. Ahri, come to bot. Let’s push the tower.
Let’s play dumb here. Pretend we don’t know. Come quick, Miss Fortune.
Here’s a ward. / How many? / Five. / Can we push the lanes? / Yes, push the other lanes hard.
Is there a ward? / Probably. / Push bot.
Jarvan, is your Flash up? / Yes. / They’re trying a split-push. I’ll deal with Master Yi and you initiate a team fight with E-Q. / Okay.
I just pushed bot. They have to come to defend. MaKNoon is coming. You fight at mid, now.
Nice, nice. You have Teleport? / Go, go, go! Here, Nami. / They’re coming! Good, you dodged the ult.
Miss Fortune, Miss Fortune, back off! / Kill Miss Fortune. Great. / Let's push this down. Quickly.
[Renekton comes!]
Crush the front line. We got it. we got it. / Stay calm. Break down the front line. Slowly.
Focus on Master Yi! / Jarvan. / Good! / Oh, yes.
Ahri has no ult. / Back off. Charm. / Charm’s off / Q, Q!
Q,Q,Q! Nice shot! / So close. / Great. / Awesome.
Kill the ward and push forward. Let’s go, go, go! Miss Fortune is here. Jarvan, be brave. E-Q and ult.
Block them, Malphite. / Let's go. Kill them all, kill them all!
No, Jarvan’s after you!
Jarvan’s… Oh, wow. / Renekton is alive.
Where is him? / Coming down now. [Black Swuan all slaughtered by Master Yi]
Be careful of initiation. Back off! Ult this way! / Look at Master Yi. Pay attention. He is coming. Focus on him. / Miss Fortune!
Kill Miss Fortune. / Hit Master Yi. / Master Yi is too powerful. / He's insane. / Quick, quick. / Nice./ Do we push? / Let's take the Baron.
Look, I scored 13 assists. I'm so happy.
Use up all your skills and back off. Don’t look back. / Go, go, go!
We can do it. We can do it. / I'm crying! / Miss Fortune is quick. Go! You can catch them! / Run, Forrest, run!
Run! All the way to the well! Master Yi’s is here. You ***!
[But Master Yi survives.]
Should I ult? / Yes. / Stay calm. Master Yi's coming. / Nice! / Here, here, here!
Ah, can't kill him. There’s nothing we can do.
Now, let's cut out the fuse. / Wow, Reapered carried the game.
[Reapered & LoLRole wins!]
[Summary: Shotcalling & Team Strategies] Strategic ban-picks are fundamental to victory Find a way to snowball early advantages When losing ground, try to gain advantage elsewhere Place wards to control the map
It was a great revenge match between LoLRole and Black Swuan.
The biggest mistake was that we didn’t ban Master Yi.
I should’ve told our team how to avoid being assassinated and place wards more carefully. We could have won.
I banned all champs that MaKNoon could carry with and picked a jungler with a carry potential. My teammates could just ult their way to victory.
They just harass a bit and Master Yi finishes off. / Yes.
It went like I planned. / You’re a tactician.
[Tactician Reapered]
So we covered the theories and practice of team strategies, with Reapered and MaKNoon. How did you like it?
Personally, it was very fun. I hope the viewers can take away a lot from this.
I hope they feel this can help them rank up.
It must have been fun for him, but I enjoyed it a lot too.
I just hope those in lower ranks felt our lessons improved their shotcalling and strategy.
Everyone, Master Yi will get banned from today.
I want to thank the two players. But, I have to tell you, this is the final episode of LoL Summer Lesson.
I'm sure you improved your skills if you didn't miss any of these episodes.
I want to thank all LoL fans for tuning in to the Summer Lesson. Thank you and good bye.
Thank you. / Thank you. Ban Master Yi.
