Hey, I'm Thea, the beauty trends expert at StyleUnited,
and today, I'm going to teach you how to use a nail brush
to do a really simple chevron style on your nails.
So, I first started off by painting my nails with this
CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss
in "Peaches and Cream."
It creates this really great, you know, peachy, light,
almost neutral color.
I painted them the night before, but you can usually paint yours
maybe half an hour beforehand.
Just make sure that your nails are completely dry
and not at all tacky.
So, I'm going to do a multi-colored chevron with this
CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in "Silver Lining"
and then I'm also going to use the CoverGirl Outlast
Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in "Out of the Blue."
So I like to dab a little bit of nail polish onto card stock
or maybe an old postcard.
I don't really like to use a paper towel because
it can absorb all of your nail polish
and then it can take a lot more polish than you would need.
So I just make a little pool of polish,
and then I take my dotter, so I use the skinny end,
and I make some dots onto my nail.
I try to do them in an uneven pattern, but just alternating
lines, so do the same lines, or the same dots, that you're
gonna ultimately connect to turn into lines.
Of course, in between, make sure that you clean off your brush
or your dotter.
I'd use just a little cap of nail polish remover
and then I use a Puffs tissue to clean it up.
So, after I've done my dotting, I wait maybe two minutes
to make sure that they're dry.
Then I use a brush and I connect the dots alternating between
the top row and the bottom row, so you're going to connect
your top dot to the dot that is closest beneath it
and then create the zig-zag pattern.
You're gonna want this to be a little bit thicker just because
you will have another color that's going to lay over it,
and no worries if they're not perfect.
Since it is your first color, it won't matter.
Then you're going to take your "Out of the Blue" nail polish
and, again, put a little pool of it onto your card stock.
Then use just the tip of your brush to put a new line
into the center of your already existing silver chevron.
These lines will be pretty skinny,
you can also use a skinnier nail brush, but I like to just
use the tip of the brush that I've been using.
So you don't necessarily need a clear gloss to go over,
but sometimes for extra shine, it's great to put a clear gloss
over maybe a little bit later, after about a half an hour
to avoid those annoying streaks.
So that's the multi-colored chevron.
You can also do it all over your nails,
you can use different colors on each hand,
or you can just use it for an accent nail like we did.
