If you've ever aspired to run the Boston Marathon you definitely have to qualify within a specific
time, so how do you run faster for your marathon? Runners who train for a marathon have to follow
a very rigid schedule in order to finish that 26.2 miles. So their training during the week
consist of 3 days of tempo running, 1 day of a very long run, 1 day of hill training,
and then 1 day of sprint training. Now we're going to focus on that sprint day, because
that sprint day is what's going to help a runner decrease the amount of time it takes
in order to finish a marathon. So a sprint day can consist of 60 minutes of sprint work.
So basically you're just going to warm up for about 5 minutes, and then you're going
to run at your tempo pace for 4 minutes, then on the fifth minute run as fast as you can
for 1 minute; and do that 10 times, then cool down for 5 minutes. And that's going to be
an excellent sprint work for 60 minutes. So before you know it you're going to decrease
that amount of time, and you just may qualify for that Boston Marathon. I'm CarolAnn with
Studio Group X, and we just talked about how you can run faster for a marathon. Now get
out there and do those sprints.
