Hello my name is Mario. I'm here with Expert Village and I'm going to show you how to change
a chain and sprocket on a sports bike. Now that we have the chain on the axle's inserted,
the brakes are on, the bolts on, and we're ready to set the tension of the chain. Why
don't you come over here with me and I'll show you how to do that. Here we are ready
to tighten the axle, you want to take an adjustable crescent wrench and you don't want to tighten
it to much so that when you're ready to tighten the tension your axle can still move in and
out, so just un-tighten it a little bit. Now I want to loosen it so that I can show you
that when you're using these chain tensioners right here you can set the distance. Now keep
in mind those grooves right here, you want to make sure they are set to the exact same
on both sides or else your wheel would be crooked and your chain could fall off while
you're driving. We set this one to I believe 7 on this side and 7 on the other side, no
come around with me just like the other side we've set to 7 we set this one to 7. This
is about just where you want your chain to be you don't want it much tighter or looser
than that, this is a good tension right there. So what you want to do is take this with a
10 millimeter and tighten it right up against the spacer and then tighten this one back
against the swing arm. Tighten those down good and tight and then go and do the same
to the other side. Just like so. Once you get both sides tight you can go ahead and
tighten your axle bolt, get it good snug on there so that it doesn't wiggle off then line
it up with the hole on the bolt so that you can put the clip back in and secure the clip.
Alright now that we have the chain set to where we want it. We want to go ahead and
tighten this axle bolt, take an adjustable crescent wrench, turn it to the right. You want to get a good tight fit on there
and make sure you line it up with your holes so you can get the clip back in. Once we have
it where we want, go ahead and take your pin, just hammer it. Bend both sides so that the
bolt doesn't spin. Your set to go.
