Welcome to Toronto's Union Station...located in the heart of the city on Front Street.
More than a quarter million people pass through here every day.
Union Station is Canada's busiest and most important multi-modal transportation hub.
The station is a National Historic Site...and a significant part of Toronto's history and
identity.
Union Station is currently undergoing a major transformation.
Three concurrent projects are underway and big changes are happening.
The City of Toronto is leading a massive revitalization. The work includes: the dig down for approximately
four metres below the ground. We're creating two new pedestrian concourses and a new retail
level below the existing ground. The work we're undertaking is to accommodate ridership
growth over the next two decades.
We are also restoring heritage elements...
building new PATH connections...
and transforming Union Station into destination unto itself – one you will want to explore!
We are doing all this while keeping the station functional for your convenience.
Meanwhile GO Transit is transforming the train shed roof, adding stairs, elevators and access
points, and overhauling the platforms.
TTC is building a second subway platform at Union Station and making concourse improvements.
A proposal to redevelop Front Street is also underway.
That's over $1 billion in construction at Union Station.
When the revitalization is complete, customers will enjoy an enhanced travel experience.
Bigger, brighter concourses, more exits and entrances, more escalators and stairs, and
glass-covered walkways will make getting around faster, easier and more enjoyable.
While a vibrant new retail presence will make you want to shop, dine or just stay a little
longer.
Get on board, Toronto!
