This is the Silver Light 2 a 40-foot cabin cruiser from Herbert Woods. Could
this be the ideal boats for your next holiday on the Norfolk Broads? Let's find out.
The Silver Light 2 is the ideal family boat in its class is a 4 plus 2
cabin arrangement. More on that in a moment the boat features a raised
central steering position with a winch operated canopy that slides practically
the full length of the saloon area and don't be put off by the winch it really
doesn't take that much effort. The generous seating features a bench which
flips open to reveal some always a welcome additional storage. The bench is
also used to form part of the plus 2 double bed. The dining table which easily
seats 6 folds down and can be neatly stored to the right of the fridge. You of course
have the integral CD and radio which offers a reasonably good sound and of
course an LCD TV. The raised steering position gives you good visibility all
around the boat and is where you'll find all the relevant controls. And if you
haven't piloted a boat on the Norfolk Broads before don't worry
because everyone gets a lesson on navigating and mooring the boat. And
they'll also cover all safety features for you and your family. The galley as
always with Herbert Woods has everything that you'd expect other than your own
personal chef. A four ring cooker and oven microwave fridge crockery glasses
cutlery pots and pans are all there waiting for you. We also found a flip-out
bin which may seem trivial but some boats still have a free-standing bin
which annoyingly always ends up getting in the way. So well done Herbert woods.
The rear cabin has two single beds which can easily be pushed together on a
clever little track so they can double bed. The cabin has a small dressing area
with two drawers a large mirror and wardrobe. The rear ensuite bathroom has a
shower with mixer taps toilet and sink. The forward cabin has a
comfortable double bed and a small bench for when you want to escape the kids.
The small dressing table includes mirror draw cupboard and a stool. You of course
have a wardrobe and a surprising number of additional storage areas which
without doubt will come in handy. As with the rear the forward cabin has an
ensuite bathroom equipped with toilet sink and shower. Now although the
Silver Light 2 is 40-foot we found it relatively easy to navigate. This is in
part thanks to the bow thruster which really improves the maneuverability of
the boat especially when mooring. Another advantage is with its bridge clearance
of only 7 foot the Silver Light 2 will pass under most bridges on the Norfolk
Broads although you must use the bridge pilot services at Potter Heigham and Wroxham
bridges. This really gives you the opportunity to enjoy all rivers on the
Norfolk Broads. So whether you're looking for spacious boats or four friends or a
family holiday with six, the Silver Light 2 from Herbert Woods is a great
option. For more boat reviews and all things Norfolk Broads, make sure you
