Hello and welcome to part 1 of Cupcake Addiction's Giant Cookie Monster Cupcake Tutorial. We
will be learning how to make a giant version of this very cute and very popular Cookie
Monster cupcake. Part 1 is preparation for our giant Cookie
Monster cupcake. So we will be making a set of giant Cookie Monster eyes. We will be making
a giant cookie to go inside Cookie Monster's mouth. And we'll also be coloring some coconut
to act as Cookie Monster's fur. Tools and equipment that we will be using
today: We have some pre-melted chocolate, a 150 grams.
I have 2 dark chocolate Melts. We're using a 6 centimeters-scone cutters.
You'll see I have two there. If you only have one, that's fine.
Some baking paper. A fondant rolling pin. If you don't have one
of this, a regular rolling pin is fine. We have some desiccated coconut. I have 4
cups of that measured out. For the cookie, I have a roll of pre-made
dough. You can use your own cookie recipe if you prefer but I've decided with the pre-made
today. And we some blue food coloring.
Alright, let's get started. First up, I'm going to make the giant cookie.
Now, I've cut off approximately 1/3 of one of the pre-made cookie rolls which I've got
here on my baking paper. The baking paper is sitting on a regular baking
tray and I've also used a little bit of butter to grease the area underneath the cookie.
I've flatted my 3rd of a roll down and I've used my fondant roller just to give it a little
bit of a roll. You really want to try and keep that nice round shape about the cookie
and you want that cookie to be about 15 centimeters in diameter. There's no exact measurement
for it. A little bit smaller is fine, just try to keep your brown shape as much as you
can. That cookie is going to go into a moderate oven approximately 175 degrees Celsius from
20 to 25 minutes. Do keep your eye on the cookie, the cooking instructions on the roll.
If you're using the pre-made cookie dough will be a little different as the design for
smaller cookies. Otherwise, if you do know a Supply that makes a giant cookie, you can
buy that already made. Next for the Cookie Monster's eyes. As I mentioned,
I'm using two 6 centimeter-scone cutters. I'm going to use the back edge of them so
it doesn't matter that one's serrated and one's flat. But if you only have one, you
can definitely do this one at a time rather than doing both together.
Sitting those on the baking paper so that they don't stick, I'm going to take approximately
a teaspoon and a half to two teaspoons of my white chocolate.
And I'm just going to spoon it into the mix, being very careful not to move those cookie
cutters. Here we go. I'm just going to... you can see me just sliding that around and
working that chocolate so it's right into the edges. And then for the second one, there
we go. For the eyeballs, I'm going to use my 2 dark
chocolate Melts. You'll see from these ones here that I've put the eyeball right up against
the edge of the white chocolate. Cookie Monster's eyeballs are not at the center of his eyes.
They're right up against the edge so I'm just going to hold that in and drop it on top of
that lovely white chocolate. And again with this one. You can move it, just be careful
you don't sink that chocolate melt. Pop those to the side. They're going to take approximately
20 minutes to dry. Now, we're going to color our coconut for
the fur. As I've mentioned, I have 4 cups of coconut that I've (Inaudible 03:49) out.
And I've also taken my blue food coloring and I've measured out 3 cup-full of this.
So I'm going to take my food coloring. I'm just going to pour that in to the coconut.
I'm going to take just a regular spoon and I'm going to stir that around. You want to
stir that for a little while just to make sure that you do get all that coconut nice
and colored, for a good consistency of color. So there we have our lovely blue Cookie Monster
fur. Now that cookie has come out of the oven,
absolutely perfectly. While that cookie was still warm, I have cut it along 2/3 of the
cookie size. I cut it while it's still warm because if you do try to cut it when the cookie
is set, the cookie will crack so that gives me a nice even cut.
When I've baked that cookie, I've made sure just to bake it a little bit longer so that
I've got a really nice, firm cookie consistency. You don't want one of those lovely soft cookies.
You do need it to be able to hold its own in Cookie Monster's mouth.
Lastly, we need to pop our eyes out of the scone cutters. We're just going to peel those
away from the baking paper. If you do refrigerate this for a couple of minutes before you try
to take them out, it can make them a bit easy to pop out. I normally just run my fingers
around the edge. This one doesn't feel like it's going to come out. So if you do have
any troubles, grab your cookie cutter, just squeeze both sides and then it will just pop
out. I'm going to do this one. Peel it off. It
doesn't want to come out so we'll just going to squeeze and squeeze again. There it comes.
There you have your Cookie Monster eyes, your giant cookie and your Cookie Monster fur ready
to go.
