Hi, this is Miranda Thacker with your KYTC Minute.
Highway improvements around the Kentucky Speedway in Gallatin County are complete.
The improvements were made to improve public safety and mobility around the Speedway during
racing events.
After the Speedway built more parking, sections of Interstate 71 and Kentucky 35 – the main
feeder routes for the Speedway -- were widened.
The $3.7 million project included constructing a tunnel so visitors can walk from parking
areas to the Speedway complex without crossing heavily traveled Kentucky 35.
The road improvements will be evident later this month, when the Kentucky Speedway hosts
three days of racing.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Quaker State 400, scheduled for Saturday, June 30.
