The International Office is located in the Richmond Building.
We're here to support
all international students
in anything that they feel
they need support in.
When students first arrive
they come straight to the Welcome Lounge
where they will be met by
International Student Ambassadors
who know all the questions
that are likely to be asked
and know how to access the support services
whenever necessary.
We have a couple of major themes
that people ask questions about.
Things like accommodation
and where to get the things they need
like their mobile phones
and where to register for their courses.
We also get a lot of general questions
about the best coffee shop in Bristol
or the best Italian restaurant
or where to buy a bike.
The International Office in Bristol
is very helpful
and they told me what to do in order
to be able to register
since my passport, my visa, is still not out
and I'm really happy I came here
because now I know I can
start classes on Monday as planned.
So you can also meet our ambassadors
at any of the 4 arrivals points
that we go to.
We go the first weekend
before term starts
and we go to Bristol Temple Meads,
Bristol Coach Station, Bristol Airport
and London Heathrow.
The process of arriving here was just amazing.
I actually was in a bit of trouble
as soon as I arrived at Temple Meads Station
because my phone stopped working
and I had all my addresses
of where I was staying on my phone
and I didn't know what to do
and I see there is a table
with these two volunteers
and they just said "come on over,
we'll help you out"
and it was unbelievable because
after that every everything was just sorted.
We have tidbits, and snacks
for people to eat, so it's fine.
We have brochures all around
and events for people to go to.
So it's a very homely
and welcoming Welcome Lounge.
Yeah.
It's a really nice place to socialize.
You meet people from all over the world
so it's really fantastic
and easy to make friends.
Our tours and events programme
runs all the way through October,
November and December.
And we go to Paris, Stonehenge
and we also run trips to London.
We end our welcoming activities
with our Welcome Reception
which is held in the Wills Memorial Building
and we have all of Student Services present
and we also have lots of free things
for students to have,
and we also usually have
a live performance on that day
and it's a great opportunity
to meet other students again
and meet all of our ambassadors
if you haven't already.
You can still get advice and support
throughout the year
by visiting our web page
or you can use Facebook and Twitter
to contact us.
Or even better come in
in person to the office
and one of our advice and support team
will talk to you in person there.
When you're new,
International Office should be your first stop,
then, from there, everything else
will follow.
They will show you everything else.
There is nothing that I can say that
I wanted and wasn't provided
by this facility,
it's just amazing.
I'm really floored by
the experience that I've had
in this building
and I wake up in the morning,
the only place that I want to come is here!
