World Trade Organization grants membership to Russia. On Thursday, December 15, after
18 years of successive developments and talks to gain admittance, the 153-member World Trade
Organization accepted Russia's application to become a member. The new affiliation is
expected to increase trade ties between Russia and the European Union, with a rise also anticipated
in European exports to Russia. Meanwhile, Russians will be able to purchase goods from
Europe at lower prices, as the country's sources of income are also more greatly diversified.
Bravo, Russia, on this significant achievement. May your new economic association with the
international community bring flourishing prosperity, fulfillment and friendship for
the nation and all her gracious people
