Te Karere has just received information.
The group occupying the lands of Maheatai in Taipa
will be removed from the site.
According to our information, police will arrive tomorrow
to carry out the order.
So Te Karere went and gained the thoughts of police today.
Ngati Kahu protestors were inside today
talking amongst themselves knowing that tomorrow
they will be removed from Maheatai in Taipa.
I have heard what the racists and the local Pakeha have had to say.
I know they have been encouraging Todd Male
to have Ngati Kahu removed.
Last month, police arrested protestors occupying council lands.
After that incident they moved to the site they now occupy.
They were supported by the owner of the land, Todd Male,
but due to strong protests from the local community things have changed
and police will return to remove the group.
This is what Pakeha call being a bully.
This is what some Pakeha here are like.
We want to tell Todd Male and the Crown
that we will not be moved from this place. We will remain here.
At the beginning of the year,
an agreement was signed between the Crown
and Ngati Kahu for their claims.
However, Ngati Kahu's main concern is that the bulk of their lands
were not returned to them, like their lands in Taipa.
We will not go. This is our land of Maheatai.
If they are removed, Wikatana Popata says they will move here to protest.
They will continue to do this until the land is returned.
Rapaera Tawhai, Te Karere.
