Announcer: Dr. Stanley Frileck came highly recommended.
The only problem was he lived 3,000 miles away
in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Stanley: I had her digitize me
some photographic images that she emailed.
It was a good starter for our conversation.
Marcia: Iím flying out to California
to meet with Dr. Frileck,
and if I like him and I feel comfortable,
Iíll go through with it. But if thereís something
that hits me in the negative, I am very fast to say
I canít do this.
Dr. Frileck: Letís chat a little bit about some of the things
that are bothering you about the way your face is aging.
Marcia: What Iím really concerned about is my neck.
Like I just woke up one morning and my neck was wrinkled.
When I met with Dr. Frileck, he mentioned that
if he just does my neck that it wouldnít really be worth it
because he really wants to get a whole look.
Dr. Frileck: Face lift is an unfortunate name.
Itís a face repositioning, itís taking the tissues
that have fallen, putting them back by some means,
and hiding the fact that you were there.
Announcer: Dr. Frileck suggests altering Marciaís nose as well.
Dr. Frileck: The bridge needs to be narrowed a little bit
but weíre talking about millimeters. So it can still be
the essence of your nose, yet much more refined.
Announcer: Overall Dr. Frileck recommends
five separate procedures including a brow lift,
an eye lift, a face lift, a nose job and fat grafting
around Marciaís chin and mouth.
Marcia: After I met with Dr. Frileck, I said
this is the person for me and I decided
I had such confidence in him that I decided
to call my husband and I said, ìIím doing it,î
and he said, ìI knew you would.î
I feel a lot better than I thought I would feel. 00:02:06.7 I thought I would come here and
run out the door, but Iím here.
Announcer: In the operating room,
Dr. Frileck pulls up photos of Marcia
on his computer to use as a guide throughout the operation.
Dr. Frileck: We're going to start with the temple area 00:02:21.8 and a slight elevation of the temple brow.
The position of her eyebrows sets the stage
for everything else that you do in the eyes
and then later on in the face. Closing takes up most of the time.
You have to match everything up. You have to get a great scar.
You have to hide the fact that you were there.
That takes all the time.
Announcer: After ten hours, sheís bandaged
and wheeled into recovery.
Dr. Frileck: Actually, the surgery went very well.
Marcia: After about 16 months, we were having dinner
and he looked at me and said, ìI have to admit,
you really look good.î That made me feel really good
that he finally came around.
Marciaís Husband: I am actually surprised at how pleased
I am with the results. She really looks beautiful.
Marcia: I would say that I did look very, very different
when I first had it done but I love the results.
In the end, it was worth freaking my husband out
because he got over it and now I think he really
doesnít remember what I used to look like.
