Hi, I'm Peps Barkhan, I'm on the Foundation Degree Fine Art course
I'm here at the Maidstone Museum to help put together their Cabinets of Curiosity,
as a volunteer. It's fascinating to see all these little cabinets coming together.
We came here for a look around
then created our ideas with reference
to this museum.
So it has inspired a lot of artistic production and is a very exciting journey.
And here we are, as volunteers, helping to put the whole thing to bed.
This is the glamorous side of the Fine Art Foundation Degree!
We were inspired by a lot of the work and a lot of the artefacts
in the museum, and all produced pieces of contemporary
fine art based on it. My piece was actually
about deconstructing skeletons of domestic animals,
and reconstructing, creating a new piece:
a new form, that I called 'Curiosaurus', a pre-historic mini-dinosaur
that might have lived on this planet some time ago.
A little curiosity that will hopefully sit well in the cabinet.
