An old woman was flying her plane...
She's 75 years old. Apparently, she was up in the air flying somewhere around the Chicago
area. She lives in a suburb or a community outside of Chicago. Apparently, this coincided
with the time that President Barack Obama was supposed to be visiting Chicago. Needless
to say, her presence in the air conflicted with his presence in the air, so I think they
scrambled some F-16 fighter jets up there to intercept the plane.
This just reminds me of how it plays into the stereotype of how old people are not really
good drivers. They leave there left blinker light on, and stuff like that. And they say,
"Aww grandma, you started an international incident!" What is your favorite way to get
around the United States if you travel?
Well, I've gotta be honest, I don't like flying in airplanes, but I don't particularly enjoy
long drives in a car either. We did that all the way to Colorado, from Houston to Colorado.
I mean, it's not terrible. You see a lot of nice things, but you know, to be honest with
you, going through a 10-hour stretch of Texas can be pretty boring.
Yeah, no doubt. It's just droning. It's like this constant hum of the road that lulls you
to sleep. I kind of get sick on car rides. I really don't like it very much.
I have the kids to keep me up and running, so... And they make a lot of noise. When they're
playing with their toys or letting their imaginations run wild, there's all kinds of explosions
going on in the back seat, so...
People used to travel around the United States via train a long time ago. And of course,
that's really gone the way of the dodo, you know what I'm saying. It's either flying or
driving in the United States because we're so big.
So there was another story about Rowan Atkinson, the actor that plays Mr. Bean. Have you ever
seen on the show the actual car that he drives?
In Britain, they call it a "mini".
A tiny car, right? As it turns out, he actually enjoys riding in super expensive fast cars.
Apparently, that's his hobby, or his pleasure in life [That's funny.] He was in a car called,
I think it was called a Mclaren F1. Apparently, it goes up to 230 miles an hour.
You can really burn rubber with the thing, yeah.
Yeah, really fast. He was on the road and going really fast, and ended up crashing into
some bushes. I saw a picture of it.
It wasn't a comedy routine, huh? It was serious.
It's kind of funny because I was reading some of the comments under this article, and one
person says, "I can't help but picturing him stepping out of the wrecked car in the 'Mr.
Bean' suit with that 'Mr. Bean' look on his face and slowly slinking away hoping no one
noticed."
Exactly, right.
Then another person replied to that and said, "Or somehow he's trying to fix it with lacquer
thinner and a ballpoint pen."
Exactly, I remember that episode.
He was just, apparently just left the car at the scene. I didn't really get well what
happened, but went and sustained basically a shoulder injury, a minor shoulder injury,
and that was that.
He left the car at the scene? I wonder if he was sloshed. No...maybe not.
Somebody else made a comment and said, "He must have been going through his morning routine
of brushing and putting on socks while driving."
Nice. Exactly. That's good.
It's hard to imagine as him as anything else but Mr. Bean.
Exactly. That's how he got typecast as that little wormy fellow, as that little ***.
I'm glad he's not hurt. [Me, too.] I'm glad there's no injury.
Yeah. Otherwise we couldn't see him injure himself in the show.
Mmm hmm. Right. For our amusement.
