Hi, Noel here again.
We are going to talk
about the Super Swivel that you will find a reel. If it happens to be leaking,
how to repair it.
Okay. The Super Swivel
has different feed lines, or different combinations for the feed to the reel.
The feed lines come from the pump
attach
to the super swivel.
Disconnect the hoses
One, two,
depending on a configuration.
Then you will need
a large
adjustable wrench
to attach to the nut
and break it free of the reel.
Once this is done
you can take this
to a wash sink of some sort
because you do have to wash the grease out
so that you can take this apart.
Unfortunately I've done this already so we're trying to make it as simple as
possible.
What you do is take a wrench
which happens to be
six mille.
Undo the grease fitting.
Take it out.
Set it down.
The hole that's left you will take a look inside and see the balls.
Turn it upside down over a work area.
And turn it until all the balls fall out.
It could be harder
or easy depending
on how well you've cleaned it.
Once you think that all the balls are released
you pull on.
If it doesn't come apart then you know darn well at the balls are still in there.
It just simply slides out
to reveal
the seals that you're going to be replacing.
Okay, now that you have it taken apart. You'll see the
seals lying there.
and you'll see
different
seals. A white one, there is a black one, another black one,
and a brown one.
The tool I have my hand is a pic. It just makes it easier to take out
the seals.
You just discard them after you get them out.
Now, once you get them all out take a rag clean it up
and then we go and
purchase a new kit to replace everything.
The kit consists of
new bearings,
new grease ***,
a lock washer,
and the new seal.
What we are
going to do is grab an old bag get rid of these old parts.
They are
discardable.
And so we
just throw these out.
Now making sure that there are no old bearings sitting there. Bring out the new package.
Open the package.
Take out the instructions.
And place
the new parts
in your work area.
Now for re-assembly. What we want to do
Is we want to take look at your instructions
See this
but we'll try.
This recommends
how to put the parts back in.
So we just lay that to the side look at that
and find the smallest "O" ring first.
Just slide it over top.
Just using your fingers. Do not use the pics.
They
could possibly damage your seals.
And it would be a waste of time and effort
and money.
Now that you have the small one in
take one of the nylon rings
slide it over next.
It's a little bit of a stretch.
Then you take the larger "o" ring
put it in the middle.
Slide it snug to that side.
Then you take the other nylon ring
stretch it on.
It is a little tricky because you trying to get it into a smaller space
now.
It does go. It does take a little bit of work.
There you're back together.
One thing you should do at this point is put a little bit of grease
on the "o "rings.
Just so that you slide it back inside the chamber you don't split them.
Grab a little bit of grease. You do not need a lot.
You can work it around with your fingers. It's just enough
to make it slide.
Sliding this back in
very gently so we don't destroy anything.
Now you'll notice right here
is a groove. This is where the ball bearings ride.
Once you have it back together.
That groove has to line up with this hole
so that you can get the balls back in.
Pick it up, to take a look.
Make sure it is lined up.
Then slowly one by one
put the balls back in.
Until they're all back in.
Give it a little twist now and then
so that the balls will slide around.
Okay, now we are down to the last couple of balls
last one going in.
They're all seated.
Now you take the grease ***
that lock washer is not needed because of the grease ***. If this were a screw
that held it in place you would need that lock.
Replace it with the new grease ***. Take your wrench
snug it up.
Place it back on the bench.
You will need a grease gun now.
Okay. Once you push it on
just squeeze gently
maybe once
or twice.
You'll feel resistance that's when you quit.
Slide this off.
A little bit of grease will ooze out.
It always does.
Now you just take a rag
wipe the grease off.
Give it a spin
and then be ready to replace it back on the reel.
