The public of a Morandi exhibition is divided into two kinds:
those who pass by and think it's always the same thing, the same bottles, etc;
and those who stop, approach the paintings, stare, make two steps back...
performing the same attitude that you have facing an antique painting.
He was a remarkable educator.
He always chose the less usual ways: he didn't show you a beautiful greek pot or a Rembrandt painting,
but focused on the smallest things, tiny thoughts of a vast depth.
You see, we have a lot of horse-chestnut trees here;
he used to keep a couple of conkers inside his pockets, to protect himself from colds.
Everyone has little 'manias' and this was one of his.
