Hi! One of the best pieces of advice any mom ever gave me was to have blackout shades and
to have a blackout liner in my baby's room. This is a great way to make sure that when
the sun comes in at 5am or 6am in the morning your baby does not wake up. So as you can
see I have this dual system at work here in my baby's room. There's a shade in the
window, which goes all the way down which basically totally blacks out the light. But
along the edges of the shade you can get some light going in which is why you also put a
blackout liner on your baby's curtains and you put these over the shade. You can pull
these around and keep them in place with a cute little floor pillow. I've got some
right here. I'm just going to pull it like that and then I close the shade. And you can
do the same thing on this side like this. Make sure you close it at the top. Now I'm
going to show you a great thing you bring along when you travel. When you travel you
can buy blackout liners such as this one at a home goods type of store. And these you
can put up along the windows where you're staying with some non-damaging blue tape.
So consider in investing in blackout shades and a blackout liner in your baby's room.
It might enable you to get 2 or even 3 more hours of sleep a night, which for any parent
is a Godsend.
