i don't buy the name of jean marques outros a block reports and he's a
regular contributor for forbes and battalions blog is if i were a poor
black kid
now he's not a poor black kid he's a middle-aged white guy
and he admits uh... early on in this case that he is a uh... he was very
lucky to grow up the way he did his kids are very lucky he obviously has
advantages over minority
i his kids have advantages over black if this is all stuff that we know so i'm
glad to hear these noted that in the beginning of his peace however he goes
on to make
uh... some arguments that solid politique
alright so he's getting a lot of criticism for this and i just want to
read you guys as small part of his up wanting to get an idea of what you know
where he's coming from
he says if i look for black kid i would first and most importantly work to make
sure i got the best grades possible
i wouldn't make it my number one priority to be able to read sufficiently
i would care if i was a student of the worst public middle school in the worst
inner-city even the worst have their best and the very best students even at
the worst schools have more opportunities getting good grades is the
key to having more options with good grades you can choose different better
past if you do poorly in school particularly in a lousy school your
severely limiting the limited opportunities you have
that doesn't sound too crazy
but at the same time if you are going to the worst
middle school in the worst inner city
you are not getting of
in most cases you don't get a decent education so it's very hard for you to
move forward in life even if you're given more opportunities
you just don't know is much as you would if you went to aka at school that
actually has decent education yet no
i hear you i'm really split on this issue because
uh... on the one hand i think alike
well into europe or what did you ever brought up the mentality that you did i
do you recognize that but at the same time like scandal we're to exercise that
although they're was a good and
if he's giving advice too
black and white is the only madhuri
here that's cool
well is somebody's gotta tell you hey you know what you would fight beyond
right
it easy it's much much harder right everybody gets that it was pretending
that these right
but somebody's got to tell you that number one part of the kids have is that
the other side of that you know what
your your
other possibilities you can do this if you could do this and
if you're going to be a good grades to become a doctor or whatever type the
right
doesn't matter what the races could be elected to the satellite could be a
black kid
in the bronx it could be a white kid and logan west virginia
uh... and so
out on this is a nice to be honest with okay so that is actually a relatively
benign part of this piece but i did not want to talk about how black kitchen
utilize all the technology that's available to them
so he says look if you're black kid you should use skype in order to communicate
with their other classmates and study with them
unacceptable akumar four black kids don't access to computer now he says
things like
went to school library but allot of the students don't have the means of
transportation to even go to a library so
let i'd get what he's saying like you can
working really hard and you can overcome obstacles in your life
but he makes it sound like
they have all of these opportunities right in front of them they're just not
taking advantage of it decided to take and that is that computer at home
but you're not a computer but
anna if they don't have uh...
you know way of getting at the library one of the just think about it
croquet
so that look at these is working
jump the shark so my dad was a really poor kid in southeastern turkey a
blessed is actually made of anyway now not everybody you know have advice that
my dad got from his older brother et cetera right so that you know which way
to go
so would be wanting to say hey building work really hard you can do it could be
another thing to say
fidelia never having trouble uh... learning what you just jump on your
uh... you know
mac laptop and withdrew
days subsystem target
mack mclarty
so and like this is that with one another
but there are computers at home is just come out looked i'm l guys who taught
and uh... inner city schools in washington d literally can't take the
books on this
are an upload carlos had i'll update you bring that up because allot of the
students don't have the ability to take their own textbooks home especially in
inner city schools
so to what make the assumption that they have easy access to a computer or the
technology necessary to excel in education
i think that that's an enduring assumption to me
yeah it's colleges would be having trouble with the nutrition program why
are you even on that now why you food stamps
if you need from the use of the forces yeah
there's plenty of food there progress but i don't get it
so silky height
i don't want overly criticized them because i know we try to get at and i
think there is some values in the in what he said after a week or two
thousand yes jr
philadelphia's intermediate uh... black of and of
permissiveness and ecosave visitor beforehand and people always equate that
with stupidity
is the list of done what he says it makes sense in a moral he doesn't know
the world is like for someone that he's described he has no *** cool it off
so things here in st
all you know it uh... i would go a step is a rug or not he knows there's there's
unlimited access the bike that
but outside of this having unlimited access and enlisted in the lives of
doing things
there is a world that is
trying to keep you from getting there
there's these buttons to put up with these poor black kids to do to get ahead
in the same time
there is a detail
and and my and well-planned
agenda
to keep them from getting when they come from people their status and have the
money means to do the things you have the day's or try to keep them from
getting their not alone
but there is certain amount
stairs up on
we've done several stories on report kids parents say you know what uh... the
school sucks
kidnapping him you were in it if he didn't enforced in in some of these bad
schools it doesn't mean anything does that mean why do you think you've got
don't even think they don't care to they're not hired to teach that to be
there
so the thing is is
if you have to bend
cheaper medical school your blog from people in prison
for putting a spin the defense school
is a holding down this has nothing to do with politics not doing it
there's there's a effort to keep them from getting place and that is
definitely every level you can be in it
but here eight-year-old kid
where's that coming from
so if there's ever a story where
black mother uh...
actually went to
better school district here it is it
there they should be arrested her for doing froggy at our school kids at
school which made me sick to my stomach the downside of this article is a
perpetuation stereotype that that
for black kids who just lazy and they're not trying hard like if you only tried
hard enough when you start with your friends he'd be fine
we're not trying hard right right so this huge ups and downs here and it's
interesting gypsy yeah actual address that point it because um... i was kind
of like this you know with his art describe my family street for a high hat
recruitment firm stance
i got a few months at the way that line for the report is that i feel much
better since its advertising on that
and uh... you know i part three
the hardware that he's making his own appoint someone in fact i think that
if these work hard enough
uh... people can try to be debited thank you down for referrals
but the route the reality is that the way the system is set up
on the the very very few cashing
this example for com the libraries are these efforts of the students cut
how many kids can do that
okay at a local
uh... school dances on central district out in physical i will not two thousand
like his
for poor insularity for skype
and they'll actually especially liked your final for those library get two or
three or four point to it
so is this setup so that
that there aren't any percentage of the people will work
at peak efficiency with our beloved with our block
they make it to the restaurant
and it is a c
in the right to change
you lose your lazy but they're not just the way so
it the the flip side is billionaires okay
there someday
there is to
*** up
and become or an
end and that there is an act of course would be hard for them
it's hard for that is almost impossible
but wanted to make in may happen to them
this is the same thing is really hard to protest
poverty and
lack of education
and uh... that needed look for systemic
and not to say upwards of up of the bootstrap because that doesn't work for
a few buttering
never ever worked for the entire class
