So once you get your show or a place to show your work, the next step is to think about
your presentation. And it is extremely important that your presentation be taken extremely
seriously. I think that framing artwork, photographs in a traditional way is really one of the
best ways for people to just look at your work and take it seriously and, potentially,
even buy it. Sometimes, the more expensive a frame your work is in, the more you can
charge for it. I know that really doesn't make that much sense, but, in a way it does.
So what I'm trying to say is, I've seen amazing photographs that were framed poorly, end up
looking poorly. And I've seen photographs that weren't so amazing, but they were framed
amazing so they really looked amazing. So, I know that, financially, framing can be quite
expensive, it can be up to a thousand, two thousand dollars to frame a show. One way,
is that if you present your work to a couple different framers and get different bids.
This way you can very conservatively look at what it's going to cost you at this frame
shop versus that frame shop. And people, you know, it's a time consuming process but, if
it's done right, you can save yourself some money. And, if you bring one framer twenty
prints to frame, you could say, "Well, will you give me a deal if I bring you this much
work?" And most of them probably will.
