Hello! I'm Vanja, and I'm 35 years old.
I live with my boyfriend, Nicklas. We're having our first child.
In this series, you'll follow me throughout my pregnancy.
PREGNANT - WEEK BY WEEK VANJA
My name is Vanja, and I'm expecting my first child with Nicklas.
I'm 18 weeks pregnant, pretty much.
The first sign that I was pregnant-
-was basically that I got ***.
I've never had any ***, but suddenly I something appeared.
It was a pretty nice surprise, and it was because of the pregnancy.
I was quite sad at first, because when I found out, I googled-
-what to eat and what not to eat. I'm nuts for salty licorice-
-and it said that you could only have 50 grams a day.
I was hysterical, because that's the only candy that I truly love.
But I talked to midwives and doctors, and I can eat salty licorice!
I'm treating myself a little.
I don't want to be a person who's like "anything goes"-
-but I notice that I treat myself a bit, and that's fine.
At first, we thought it was a girl. It was just a feeling we had.
But then everyone around us thinks it's a boy.
Pretty much everyone! So now we think it's a boy.
This ultrasound is extra special to me, because it's my first.
We've had two, because we did a prenatal diagnosis test.
Anyway, I couldn't be there, but now I'll get to see it live-
-so that's great. And checking the sex is really exciting.
-Super exciting! -But it's a win-win situation.
-We have no preference at all. -But if it's a girl, we have a name.
If it's a boy... Boy names are just so much harder than girl names!
A lot of people say that. I don't know why, but that's how it feels.
I'm 18 weeks pregnant, and we're just about to have the ultrasound.
So nervous - I hope the baby's OK.
And so thrilling - we want to find out if it's a boy or a girl.
I have an idea about how we find out about the sex:
The midwife writes it down on a note and then we open it outside-
-so that we find out at the same time - no peeking at a screen.
-We find out simultaneously. -I'm in.
-OK, let's go! -Yes.
-You know what it is? -I do.
-You're absolutely sure? No doubt? -No.
-God, I'm so nervous. -Me too.
-OK, here's our baby. -Is it a boy or a girl?
-Hard to tell. -Is that a white little dot?
-Maybe... Turn on three? -Oh... OK, fine. We have to turn it.
Are you ready? I have to say my heart is in my mouth.
-Turn it already! -The suspense is killing me!
CONGRATS - IT'S A BOY!
-It's a boy! -Oh, my God!
-A baby boy! Crazy! -There's the little...
It's the little willy. The little willy on our boy!
-We have to let this sink in. A boy! -Yes, we do.
