We have an interesting question on hand...
the question is 'Who could be an instructional
designer?' Could you be an instructional
designer? Could I be an instructional designer? The answer for this question is YES.
Why not? What really stops us from becoming instructional designers?
So the next question is, 'Is it as simple as that?' The answer is NO.
That's the reason why I said we have an interesting question on hand.
Right? Let me... let me explain. As with any other art
or craft, instructional design also needs a couple of criterion
that we need to be able to fulfill. The first one is non-negotiable.
A good command over the language. The grammar has to be in place,
we need to have the flair for the language, we need to have that love for the language...
we have these, we are on 50%.
Right? So no issues.
The other one is a sense of adventure that we need to have.
Let me explain because this is my personal
intepretation, so I better explain that, right?
The sense of adventure is this...
when we get into wilderness, right... there are things that we are prepared
to encounter which we just do not expect at all...
that is why we call that adventure. Instructional design is something like that...
Every time a project comes in, the subject is something invariably that
we do not know anything about. So we just cannot
get intimidated by that. We should have the spirit,
we should have that... that gut
to ask 'Why not?' 'What...
what is it about the subject that I need to know?' So
I have this questioning in me...
I have this spirit of adventure in me, I am on!
Because as we go along, there are a lot of things that we will learn about instructional
design, because it is an ocean. Right? But these two things you have
you are on. So would you like to give it a shot? Best Wishes!
