Ngai Tahu have begun researching water management and conservation
of fresh and sea water in the South Island.
According to Ngai Tahu Chair Mark Solomon,
they hope to gain a strategy for the management and conservation
of South Island fresh water systems.
According to Nga Pae o te Maramatanga research group,
the purpose of this meeting is to bring researchers together
with the aim of providing some answers to the many questions
around water conservation.
To discuss and debate issues amongst themselves,
with the hope of finding answers to the many questions at this time.
There are now over 10 being researched by the Ngai Tahu group
with regards to fresh and sea water in the region.
Later they will collate their information into a report.
The challenge of this group of researchers at the meeting
is to be more aware of the destruction manners
of ignorant people to water systems, fresh and salt water.
