Welcome to Topaz Basics. CUA Instructional Technology presents tutorials
to assist with creation and management of the university web pages.
Learning goals for this tutorial include: using the 'copy page' tool, and
understanding 'swap content' for default.cfm.
Click on the File Explorer tab. Find default.cfm
from the File Folder list. Move the cursor three columns to the right,
and click on 'Properties' in the default.cfm row.
The copy page tool is on the right side of the screen.
Title the copied page 'default-new'
by typing default-new in the .cfm field box.
Do not use spaces. Then click 'Copy Page.'
The server has now made an exact copy of your home page.
This is helpful because you can make edits to the copy without the page being live,
meaning that no one can see the changes you make until you are ready.
You can begin editing the copied page, save changes
and come back to finish it later. You have time to make whatever edits or
changes you need to make without negatively affecting the navigation of
your site during the process.
In the File Explorer View, the page default-new will now be visible.
In the last column on the right, there are green intersecting arrows.
The arrows swap all the content from the default-new page
with the live default page. Don't press this until you are sure you are ready to swap the page.
Once swapped, default-new content will be live on the default.cfm home page.
Then you can use the delete column in the File Explorer
to delete the copied default.cfm. Thank you for watching.
