My family and I are very happy to be living in Germany because of the
excellent conditions for our child. We often help out in our daughter’s
nursery on a voluntary basis. This experience is very important to us.
We get to know the staff and the other children’s parents well.
I would also like my second child to be born in Germany as the health care
system is very good and well-organised.
The doctors and midwives support us a lot. With our first child,
my husband and I had to manage all by ourselves,
without the help of our families.
I never imagined this would work so well.
I came from India to Germany on a scholarship from the University of
Karlsruhe. There, I qualified with a master’s degree in international
electrical engineering. Thankfully all the courses were held in English.
If that hadn’t been the case, I wouldn’t have studied in Germany.
The university also offered German language courses, which I was able to
attend. Today I work as an engineer for a manufacturer of semiconductors.
I develop software for microchips used in home entertainment systems.
They are applied world-wide and Germany plays a key role
in the business. That makes working in this field very exciting.
There is religious freedom in Germany, so wearing a turban is not a problem.
Of course, there are many people who aren’t familiar with our religion, but
once we start talking they are usually very understanding. The people who
know us here take us for who we are and not for what we look like.
Once or twice a month my colleagues and I go out for a meal together. We
talk about work and our private lives. My colleagues always bear with me when
I can’t think of a German word.
Germany is the perfect place for professionals. Expert knowledge is
sought after and valued. I’m delighted that we got the chance to move here.
It pays to come to Germany. We can’t wait to see what the future will hold.
